What emotion best describes your feelings about Trump's victory/presidency?

Pretty much this: 65% anger, 30% grave sorrow and concern and worry, 5% outright fear. (And, yes, mostly for others; I’m a white male in California, about as safe as anyone can be.)

Kindly cite how Trump managed to inherit two multi-billion dollar fortunes from a father who was only worth $200 to $300 million. When he died. In 1999.

As for me, cautious optimism. I didn’t vote for Trump and have always been troubled by the fact of his unpredictability, but I’m encouraged by the take-charge way he’s been making things happen. Trump Tower is now the de facto power center of the U.S.

And this just in: Ford has announced it’s cancelling its plans to build a new $1.6 billion dollar plant in Mexico and will invest in expanding its existing plant in Michigan instead, stating that the decision represents a vote of confidence in the pro-business environment being created by Trump. Since everything I predicted about Trump has so far proven wrong, I’m going with “curiosity”, because, honestly, that’s the default I can’t get away from at this point.

I’m tired of people saying they’re “horrified”. Get out from under the bed and grow a pair – and while you’re at it fetch me a six pack.

I went with horror… because it’s the closest to that feeling you get when you’re having a nightmare, and remind yourself that you’re not asleep.

Looking past the man, as well as business he is also an oldskool New York Democrat - meaning his instincts aren’t anywhere near the rhetoric.

The whole situation is obscene and I hope it causes Americans to think more about the systems that govern them because this unusual democratic model does not best serve the people, it serves firstly the owners of capital.

I’m a big believer in the Law of Unexpected Consequences - a whole lot is going to change that couldn’t change before because of the constrictions of conventional practice and narrow parameters of behaviour. Some of that will be good change.

I didn’t vote but would have gone with ‘trepidation’.

I went with worry, but it’s really a combination of worry, shame, horror, anger, & fear.

I went with “Schadenfreude”, which is probably a surprise to no one here.

This sums it up for me perfectly. I’m seeing a level of anger-- from supporters of the *winning *side, mind you-- that is pretty worrisome, but also shameful and it makes me angry that we’re letting fear drive our nation these days.

I’m worried that the world I leave my kids will be unrecognizable in horrible, horrible ways.

Hard to pick between hilarity and worry. If not for the global consequences of the Trump presidency it would definitely be hilarity. If the US electorate is foolish enough to elect Trump then they should have to suffer the consequence and let the rest of the world laugh as he betrays those who voted for him and wrecks their country. The irony that the uber-patriotic have elected a man who will cause such damage to a country they supposedly love. Unfortunately, the world has the potential to suffer from Trump as much as the US will and so ultimately I picked worry.

I had to go with hilarity because I am known for laughing inappropriately. I must stay away from the dark emotions, for they lead only to despair. We will get through this, somehow.

Extreme elation!

I picked Schadenfreude. I’ve long said that a casino owner is by nature unfit to be President, and Trump’s staff picks are proving that criticism true - that somebody who was literally in the business of selling the plebs false hope cannot be trusted to keep their campaign promises.

On the other hand, Trump is a mundane evil, despite the cries of the regressives who keep screaming that he’s literally Hitler. He’s no Dick Cheney - if he does something corrupt, it’s going to be using his own hotel to host a convention, not using his own oil company to pillage the country he just invaded.

And he’s only going to be President because the left made it happen. The Clinton campaign literally conspired with the media to make Trump a thing, because they thought that whatever mainstream Republican candidate emerged victorious from their primaries would be weakened by his defense against the likes of Trump. They conspired with the DNC to make sure Clinton won their primaries, despite being under investigation by the FBI, citing brain damage as an excuse for not remembering the rules she supposed to be following, and having a history of getting thousands of people killed and paving the way for Islamist extremists with regime change, and planning to continue performing another if she won. And despite being such a repulsive candidate, she still attracted the support of the cult of the regressive left. Sucker-punching a tresspasser who was trying to disrupt a Trump rally is not good, but it is not a threat to democracy. Committing a crime against someone just for supporting Trump’s candidacy in public is.

Because it’s a giant “fuck you” to the left (and the country) or because you think great things will happen under his watch?

I kind of feel like I would want to change my answer to hilarity because it is going to awesome watching the Trump supporters try to twist his betrayals and incompetence into positives. It has already started and it is already funny.

No “despair” or “disbelief”? I guess helplessness.

Oh, it will depend on what country gives them a better deal or what to with a country that tries to get out of a bad deal. He will very likely help the oil company of his new secretary of state.

I went fro feeling embarrassed to feeling doomed !

Nausea and incredulity weren’t among the choices, so I went with horror. Shame and anger work too.

Already answered the first part in another thread on this site, the democrats ( PARTY ) backed Hillary in the primaries ( Leaked E-mails ). And the fear that drove me to this opinion is that Hillary would have continued OBAMAS legacy. WATCH (CITIZEN 4) to see what his legacy to the world is. EDWARD THE SNOWMAN was a patriot of the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE. And know that the AI in PERSON OF INTEREST is a very real possibility because of this tech. For the first time in my memory NO CORPORATIONS OWN THE POTUS. Oh by the way if you watch that film you will probably be placed on the watch list.
