What Fashion Do You Wish Would Come Back

I don’t know what size you are, but Woman Within has some swimsuits that cover the parts of you that you would prefer to keep private. I don’t know if they will ship to the UK (I’m guessing you live in the UK because you say knicker and bum), but I thought you might like to know that such swimsuits ARE being made. This company also offers trunks that coordinate with the swimsuits. This option is very nice for women who are not really comfortable with their hips and/or thighs. I wear a skirted suit myself. I thought that skirted swimsuits were totally missing the point when I was young and with a firm body. Now I wear one, out of consideration for the world at large.

Yeah metallic Spandex and bleached ripped up jeans are way in right now. I have a pair of black shiny latex leggings from American Apparel, and I almost had a heart attack in a bathroom bar because I couldn’t pull them down, they are so damn tight. Got them down, then I couldn’t get them up, I was panicking. Thought I might have to walk out of there with no pants on. I haven’t worn them since, which is too bad, because they are really cute.

Just google [Modest clothing swimwear] you’ll find plenty.

Very Modest

Yes, I have been to Rion, and most guys wear speedos (except for the surfers, who wear jammers). Most of the world isn’t uptight about briefs-they are much more comfortable, and dry off quickly-you aren’t walking around for hours in soaing wet shorts.

Actually, one that I wish would go away: men’s neckties.

One that I wish would come back (kinda related to the above): comfort first, glitz last.

Next time try putting some lotion on your legs. Do Not add powder, however, as this will form a paste :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish Chemin de Fer jeans would come back. They had wide legs and different styles of fastening, such as the sailor style, the tuxedo style (button front with a notch at the top) and some other nifty things which I don’t know how to desribe at the moment. I think the company went out of business in the early eighties.

I also wish I could find the bikinis that have the extra long strings on the top that you’d cross in the back, pull up under the sides of the botoms and tie around your waist (if you don’t already know what I’m talking about, no way is that description gonna help)

Short shorts but not in sizes for fat people.

I’ll second big 80s hair on women. A lot of it was atrocious back then but when it was good it was real good.

I wholeheartedly agree. Who wants a naked face?

I spent my youth among Amish/Mennonite people and also doing Civil War re-enactments, and I would love to see moderate corsets and long skirts. Corsets give you great back support and posture, and if you don’t overdo the tightening, you’re fine in the breathing department. I swear the sexiest thing I ever wore was a Civil War ballgown with a hoop skirt. Your waist looks tiny and your boobs are perky, and an old lady taught me to walk with a certain swash in my step.

My body shape does not easily accommodate trousers – the waistline either has to cinch around my gut (constantly slipping downward) or underneath it (which looks hideous). So being neither Scottish, a transvestite, nor someone interested in displaying his skivvies (or lack thereof) to the world, I’d avoid the problem altogether by wearing robes or a simple tunic. Since I live in Austin I could probably get away with it, but frankly I don’t have the nerve to try.

It’s been good enough for much of the rest of the world for thousands of years. Why should it be reserved for the clergy, “damned for’ners”, and weirdos?

Slits. I’m talking long skirts/dresses that had those very long slits up the side or back or front. I remember a girl in high school, tall, blond, very long legs. She would wear a long red skirt slit up the side. I would just stare and lust after those legs.

Sperry Topsiders.

They were really big in the early 80s (or at least that’s when I discovered them).

Oh, wait, they are coming back in nice two-tone styles, like so. And I’m seeing a few younger, urban types wearing them quite stylishly.

I’m so getting me a pair when I have some spare change.

Hang out with the neo-pagan/RenFaire crowd, and knock yourself out. We wear capes and cloaks all the time, and sometimes not for just our own little gatherings.

Ditto on the giant 80s eyeglasses hate.

Is that Daniel Day-Lewis?

Stirrup pants. I thought they looked so hot on the women that wore them.

I see lots of fedoras, but they tend to be on the geek/Linux crowd. Where there’s a fedora, there’s also going to be someone nearby with a trenchcoat, a few with neckbeards, and some with science and math t-shirts like “There are 10 kinds of people, those that understand binary, and those that don’t”. Can’t forget the BO.

They are back. I’ve seen people wearing them.
