My girl will be a gypsy (hoop earrings, long skirt, scarf bedecked in coins) and my boy will be a bat (hoodie with black umbrella pieces attached to it).
7 year old: Jasmine
3 year old: ghost
Lady Chance: witch
Me: Obi-Wan Kenobi, complete with one of those cool new lightsabers.
MilliCal was going to be a Sand-Witch (A Witch in a costume made of or colored like sand, with a sandpaper hat), but she changed her mind.
She’s a Cat Burglar. She’s dressed in black, with a black hood, carrying a cat carrier full of stuffed cats. For goos measure, her hood has cat ears.
Pepper Mill is volunteering today at MilliCal’s school as a gypsy fortuneteller, and is dressed appropriately.
I’m sitting here at work dressed as Erik, the Phantom of the Opera. I’ve got full makeup on, the mask, a dressy shirt, and a cape that Pepper made for me (very impressive), with a skull-headed staff a la the Masque of the Red Death scene. I’ve got a hat, but I don’t wear it – too many people would think I was trying to be Zorro.
The toddler decided he wants to be a pumpkin, and stuck with it, so that’s the plan. Teenager has settled on ‘dead emo kid’. I’m so proud.
The 11-yr-old will be going as some kind of ghost-thing with a mask that looks like The Scream with blood dripping from it.
The little one will be a ghoul - it’s a white ghost-looking outfit with a chain and an ugly mask.
They both wanted scary this year. I miss the days when they wanted to be Buzz Lightyear, or a Ninja Turtle.
Third-Grade-Caricci will be a Zombie Skateboarder this year. It’s a purchased costume.
My son: Jester. I need to finish the hat this weekend, and find my bells so he jingles when he walks (it’ll help me keep track of him!)
Me: My usual vampire. Fangs (good ones, from the theatre shop) and cape. I need to make myself a decent costume one of these decades, I have some nice patterns for poodle skirts or Celtic wench dresses.
4 year old: a race car driver (Dale Earnhardt, Jr., to be exact). He’s a NASCAR fan and I’m not sure where he got that from.
19 month old: gnome. I made him a tall, pointy red hat and some brown knit pants. He’ll wear a blue tunic with a belt. I may make his cheeks rosy with a little blush (he has those big apple cheeks, anyway).
After Halloween, please post pictures so that we can confirm the high cuteness factor of this ensemble.
1 year old will be a skunk. (It’s a Target costume because I’m not crafty).
With some of the diapers he gives us, a skunk actually seemed quite fitting .
The 20 month old has two costumes. One for day care is a devil outfit. It has black wings and horns. The first time she wore it she didn’t want to take it off. The night time one is a duck. She likes ducks and likes to quack. She also likes to wear this costume around, though she hates getting into it. Funny how girl who likes to be naked also wants to wear costumes around.
My daughter is going to be an angel. She bought the wings, but is going to improvise the rest of the ensemble.
My son decided on a packaged costume–some sort of generic demon/zombie thing with glowing red eyes.
I may borrow the wings for daytime, if she doesn’t need them. The kids from the onsite daycare are going to trick-or-treat our offices.
All the Halloween Carnivals at the schools were cancelled this week due to the fires. I hope they get rescheduled.
7 year old: Hannah Montana
5 year old: Some kind of Snow Princess costume, which looks more like the angel you put on top of the Christmas tree, but what the hell do I know.
3 year old: Snow White, which is totally distinct from the Snow Princess, even though Snow White is a princess.
Me: Red Sox cap & jersey for trick or treating.
This thread is worthless without pics.
Seriously, there is nothing cuter on earth than a kid dressed up for Halloween. I demand pictures!
My 12-y-o son will go as a video game character, as he did last year. Of course, no one had a clue who he was supposed to be, and that bothered him not one whit. This year, he said he is going to make his own costume. (This should be interesting!)
I so dig making his costumes, so I think it’s cool that he wants to take on the challenge.
The 14 year old is going as…uh…someone from Bleach, an anime show. The orange haired guy with the huge chef’s knife looking sword. I’m making essentially a short geisha’s kimono costume in black and white for him, and he already has the sword. How he attaches the sword to the costume is his own dang problem. He’s even been growing his hair out for it - I suggested yesterday he get that mop shorn and he begged me for just one more week so he can have the “right” hair for it.
My daughter’s costume is a last minute change. I was going to add hearts to a dress I made for her for the Ren Faire so she could be The Queen of Hearts. But then I found out her little friend is going to be a Flying Monkey and his mother is going to be the Wicked Witch of the West. So now she’s Dorothy, I’m Glinda, my husband is the Tin Man, and other (adult) friends are the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, Toto (the fattest “uncle” of the bunch), The Wizard and perhaps a couple of Munchkins. Will most definitely post pics when it’s all over!
3 yo ValleyGirl has changed her mind oh-so-many times. At the moment, she’s quite set on being a fairy, though I’m lobbying hard for using the bee suit when she goes t-o-t-ing with her friend (a ladybug).
She has a complete Duplo construction set and goes hiking and camping with us. I don’t know how on earth we ended up with a girl who likes pink and fairies!
