What happened to Car Talk DF?

There was another thread on the subject concerning whether there were other discussion forums that were as good as this one for answering questions.

Just thought of one that used to be—and since that thread looks like it will be deleted, decided to start a new thread.

What did happen to Car Talk? It was absolutely the best way to get quick answers to automotive questions I ever saw. Post a question and within 1/2 hour you had 10 answers, many of them by excellent mechanics.

Now there is almost no one on there. The forum is completely moderated—post a question and your question may show up in an hour or two and you might just get an answer sometime today or tomorrow.

I guess they had some reason to make the changes they did. Almost completely unmoderated forums like Car Talk used to have can cause problems, but I think they have gone way overboard. And in doing so they lost just about everybody.

From the best to the worst discussion forum so quickly.

Well I am a little surprised that no one on this general question forum has ever seemed to try Car Talk for automotive answers.

Could be I guess. There are a few car questions on this forum, but not all that many really.

Car Talk is currently re-doing their entire web site. They also had some problems with flame wars, etc. that caused heavier moderation. They are looking for ideas on what people want, and you can suggest ideas to them by going to their website.
