What happened to "New Posts"?

Title pretty much says it all.
I used to see an option next to “Calendar” for new posts, where did it go?

At least the Calendar is still there. I use it to plan my entire social life.

Same question here, not to mention “what happened to search?”, so I can find out what happened to “new posts”.

Good. I thought it was just me. I paid up as a member last night and thought I screwed something up in the process.

We can’t completely rule that out, though, now can we?

Since “New Posts” is really search it’s been disabled (along with other forms of search) until we can determine what is causing the performance issue with the SDMB. Last week we saw an issue where the vBulletin software was submitting database queries of around a megabyte in length each which caused performance issues. Suspect we’re seeing the same today. Until the host provider has had time to analyze what today’s performance issue I’ve disabled search to see if the performance situation can be stabilized in the interim.

But…but…what about my every-five-minute vanity searches? However will I know if anybody is talking about me??

Czarcasm there is always Google’s site specific search:
Goto Google and type:
site:straightdope.com

Then either 1 hour or 24 hours instead of Any Time

Would this be the reason why Participated and Timeline on Tapatalk aren’t working?

I think there are some severe server/pipeline problems Our Dear Mods are trying to overcome by limiting searches.

So, disabled then?

Ohhh, trust me, they are. They always are.

I wonder it the Participated tab on Tapatalk uses the board search function, and if that might be the source of the massive inquires as more of us use Tapatalk on our phones.

Seeing the New Posts button disappear, now I know what it must feel like when those Malaysian witch doctors make your genitals disappear. Supposedly there’s nothing left down there but a blank patch. Never piss off a Malaysian witch doctor.

Don’t call us witch doctors.

We are holistic, alternative medicine practitioners.

P.S. Check your crotch

Also affected: Looking up specific posters posts or topics made.

Well, looking up those things would be considered performing a “search”, and “search” has been temporarily disabled.

Probably cuz the new SDMB owners tried to contract TSA to do the searches …

I’m aware, I was just pointing it out to those who might not have thought of that. : p

And the search function was stolen.
