What happened to the John Edward show "Crossing Over"?

It was all the rage a few years ago… did something happen?

I think it died.

It, uh… crossed over.

Edward might’ve been sufficiently debunked and satirized out of the national TV business, and there are slicker purely-fictional (i.e. they offer no claims of realism) programs like Medium and Ghost Whisperer taking up the slack with much more attractive casts.

I can’t believe everyone woke up one day and collectively decided it was rubish…

nah, it crossed over.

by popular demand.

Or I guess you could say it “crossed over.” However, it’s telling me that it’s very peaceful in its new place, and that someone whose name starts with an “M” loves you very much.

From his website.

So in other words it crossed over.

Perhaps Edwards will find it easier to bilk people in person without having those TV cameras exposing him to outsiders. His event schedule has him busy through next May, although his latest “shows” were not sold out.

Maybe the south park episode of him winning the biggest Douche in the universe did him in.

Even if you believed in his powers, watching him say the same things over and over gets kind of boring. The only way it would be interesting is if you were getting the reading.
In other words, unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes.

I noticed that at least four different shows exposed some of the tricks he used to con his audience.

I think he realized that if he were to stay on the air he would have no credibility even among the gullible. I also believe the stations carrying his program (or at least his sponsors) felt they were being held up to redicule by continuing to carry his mistic mumbo jumbo.

It didn’t get a lot of press, but it turned out that Edward was not able to talk to the dead as he had claimed.

It’s hard to believe, but he was just pretending.

Moved to CS.

The Aliens gave him the biggest Douche in the universe award, causing him to lock himself in his panic room and call the police.

It crossed over.

(Woo, no one’s done that joke yet…

D’oh!)

Sadly it doesn’t seem John Edwards has crossed over.

I think it’s probably true that A) It gave people to much opportunity to debunk him which was annoying B) what Zebra said, it got boring for people who weren’t involved. C) It’ has already done it’s job making a name for him, therefore D) He’s better off going back to bilking people in private.

Would be nice to think people had just wised up.

It jumped the shark.

See, I’m seeing tickets for John Edward, the phony medium, and for John Edwards, the real former VP-candidate.

Maybe if Kerry ran with Edward he might have been able to win.

“Mr. Edward, what is your plan for Iraq?”

“I’m talking with someone, I’m seeing a G, followed by a ‘M’ or a ‘N’.”

“George Marshall, of the Marshall plan?”

“Yes, that’s right! He says we should gradual increase aid and material support as Iraqi forces become stronger and at the same time gradually reduce the number of American troops present in the region. Also, he’s at peace and loves you very much.”

“Wow. That is impressive.”

There’s always plenty of gullible folks out there ready to throw their money at passing conmen, regardless of credibility. :frowning:
