South Park's Skewering of John Edward

I must admit I am shocked—shocked!—that there is no thread celebrating the brilliance of the Nov. 27 episode (yes, I know there’s a Cartman thread here and a “can John Edward sue?” thread in GD). I was squealing with delight through the episode and demanded all my friends watch the rerun on Saturday—does anyone know what the reaction on the various John Edward message boards has been? Heads exploding left and right?

Hee, hee, hee. That one episode made up for a lot of crap they have foisted on us . . .

“Theeeere he is, the biggest douche in the unnnnniverse…”

That episode nearly killed me - I had to keep stifling my laughter until the commercials. I had to explain to my husband why I was doubled over - he didn’t realize Edward’s show was purported to be “genuine.”

Where was the Pet Psychic, though??? Primo material!

Doesn’t he have some kind of official message board? I tried Googling with no luck—I would love to see what some of his fans are saying about that episode.

Eve, google with this - “crossing over” board. I saw at least 3 message boards, but I haven’t the time right now to go wading. Let us know if you find anything juicy, pleeease???

I’ve expessed my great admiration of this brilliant episode on several threads already. Absolutely wonderful. I hope MANY young people saw it and were exposed to this superb debunking who might not have been otherwise.

Hmmm—I could only find one John Edward-related message board that didn’t require registration to lurk (and I am not registering on anything connected to him!). The only one I could lurk on had not one thread regarding South Park!

Perhaps Mr. Edward’s days are numbered? I think he is already de trop.

I suspect there may not be a lot of crossover (npi) appeal between ‘South Park’ and ‘Crossing Over’. His fans may not even be aware he was spoofed.

His fans might be skilled at deluding themselves, but it’s hard to see how anyone could put a positive spin on being elected “Biggest Douche In The Universe”.

What I’m saying is, they may not watch South Park, so they may not be aware of the episode. Just a theory.

Oops, I actually missed the “not” where you said “may not be a lot of crossover”. Sorry.

Damn, I’m gonna have to start watching South Park again. If anybody deserves the South Park treatment, it’s John Edward. (Though I would have characterized him as a douchebag, and not as an actual douche.)

I just saw it myself last night. Very nice.

Tickets to his show are free, right?

“I’m getting a B… Bill? Bob?”

“I’ve got a a Bob!”

“And Bob has passed on, right? He’s got a message. Something he wanted you to do…”

“He wanted me to come here and tell you what a douche you are.”

<applause>

“You used to do things…with stuff.”
“My husband did things with stuff!”

I have a friend who both believes in John Edward and watches South Park. I’ll have to ask him what he thought of it.

I can’t wait!

I think I’ll have to take a look at this episode. Normally I find that South Park exaggerates its targets to absurdity in order to take them on, but if that complaint hasn’t been leveled by Dopers, it probably doesn’t apply in this case.

Eve as I mentioned in one of the threads cited, I thought that this was one of the finest, most detailed rip jobs I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

Brilliant!

I liked Chef – “Man, I can’t believe I got fooled by that asshole.” Sometimes blunt is best.

They did a good job of summarizing Rob Schneider movies, too.

Derp de Dop der Doopetty Terp.

Bring me the Victim Child

Unfortunately, now every time I hear a commercial starting with the “Rob Schneider…”, I look up expecting to see one of the parodies, and it never is, darnit! They got the voice down pretty well on that!
