Hrmm. Quasimodem rocks, if only because he provided us with our first Dopefest and introducing us to the wonderful world of Weird European Greeting Cards with Insidey Things That Fall Out.

All the regulars on #straightdope. I hang out there far less than I would like to.

All the participants in Osip’s SDMB League (Fantasy Football). Worthy opponents all, and I’d never worried as much about a battle for last place as I did in that league. Next year: Head to Head!

And a general thanks to everyone else, cause this board kicks ass.

Well, the most obvious is Airman Doors who fathered my child and married me.

In second place is Zappo who has allowed us to trash his house (twice) giving Dopefests.

In close third are various MADs and Texas Dopers, past, present, future, and soon-to-be past for general friendship, hand-holding and related services.

I can’t forget the #straightdope people at all, either. (Thanks to brianjedi for the book!)

And, of course, all the Dopers who have held my hand, offered encouragement, and made me laugh. [sub]Note to self: Don’t read Pit threads in the library. You sound like a water buffalo giving birth. :D[/sub]

I’ve received tons of help from Dopers I’ve come to know over the last three years. Just those who come to mind (and I’m sure I’ll miss someone out):

TheLoadedDog and Goo (I believe she’s changed her name here, so I’ve heard, but I don’t know the new one yet) hosted me when I gathered up my scraps of courage and visited Sydney and the Central Coast last month. Thanks. TLD has been a great friend, helping me through more storms than any guy should ever have to help a Wolf through. Thanks, mate.

Quasimodem is a treasure of a friend. His words and voice have kept me going over a recent rough patch. Likewise with LeeJam. Thanks, both of you.

Then, my text-only pals who help keep me company in the night: Flamsterette_X, and Aslan.

There are others. Hope they realise how much I appreciate them. Thylacine, leechbabe. The whole crew, really, at the G’Dope Board. There are folk there who have helped me by giving me a damn good chuckle. Lots of times.

calm kiwi has been a great friend ever since I met her online 4 years ago.She was the one who introduced me to this place in the first place.

She also regularly sends me letters,CD’s,books etc all the way from NZ.(I stay in India).More importantly she is always supportive and helpful and been the perfect friend one could ever wish for.

Seawitch, back in 2001, started this thread giving away serveral EXCELLENT reference books on magic and sleight of hand. As the lucky first poster in that thread, I was able to get my hands on many great books that I otherwise would never have gotten. Thank you VERY much, seawitch! The books have been very useful.

Everyone in Rue’s MMP threads- they kept me cheerful last winter, when I was adjusting to being married, home with a very sick cat, and broke.

Osgie, for the very lovely wedding present, and for her promise to visit us this summer, and for turning out not to be a seven foot tall 50ish potbellied biker with three eyes and tatoos all over, even though she said she was.

Guin, for being who she is- loyal and loving.

Hamadryad: where to begin. When I moved here and fell into a pit of despair (northern Maryland), Hama kept me sane, she kept me laughing. I owe her so much for that.

You’re going to totally screw up my rep. For this, I hate you with passion unspeakable.

Jessity has sent me a couple of cards that she made with her own hands out of construction paper, including one with a drawing of a monkey that looks like he’s picking out a wedgie. These made me laugh, and that is a Good Thing.

I have gotten CDs from a couple of people - CrankyAsAnOldMan, Sophie, and Chef Troy come to mind. Troy has sent me a BUNCH of CDs and they’re all fargin’ fabulous.

When my granddaughter came to stay with me for almost a month unexpectedly, Tequila Mockingbird and Sophie both sent me boxes of fantastic little girl hand-me-downs - extra-fabulous because it was in the fall and she had nothing but summer clothes with her…many of which she was outgrowing. Sophie also sent an extra gift which I found absolutely amazing.

Elenfair sent me a gift for not being a whiny asshole, which anyone who knows me should find hilarious.

aenea gave me stained glass classes. I love working with it! Gotta wait for the weather to warm up before I can get started again, though, because my workshop is in the (freezing cold) garage. She’s an amazing person.

Billdo and Maeglin have both given me places to sleep in the Big Eek Scary City - saving me literally hundreds of dollars in hotel fees, thereby making it possible for me to go to NYC at all.

manhattan got me to Chicago. Which looks really funny if you have no frame of reference. And jarbabyj gave me a place to sleep and watch really bad TV.

Gingy makes me feel good about myself because her stench makes my fragrance seem lovely in comparison.

Chef Troy is my best friend that I’ve never met. He’s picked me up at some REALLY low times - before I was medicated, and during, and after. He’s introduced me to some really fantastic blues music. Just…all-around wonderful guy.

Other people have done stuff too…phone calls, emails…I’m afraid of leaving someone out. I hadn’t really tallied up how many people have done things for me, or how much support I’ve had from people on here. I mean, there’s the chocolate-covered espresso beans Eonwe gave me, and phone calls from Tiburon, and books from Joey Hemlock and CrankyAsAnOldMan, and long typed talks with Dynosaur and Elenfair and others…

If I left anyone out, I’m sorry and I suck.

If anyone in this thread tells anyone else I have a heart, I’ll kill them. KEEL THEM!

Anita Vacation drove me to New York City, invited me to her parties and hasbeen an all-around sweet person!

OpalCat celebrated New Year’s Eve with me (as well as Anita), been a sweet friend and chats with me at work so I’m not so bored. She also puts up all the Dopefest photos on her site!

And, last but not least, another certain unnamed Doper has done lots of nice stuff for me, but I can’t really talk about it here, if you know what I mean

Well, IRL I know only two dopers and they have both proven to be extraordinary people, so I guess I am 2 for 2:

Eva Luna, for introducing me to my husband

and jeevmon, the aforementioned spouse, who does remarkable things for me all the time, including last night when he drove me–during Angel no less-to visit a friend whose mom is dying.

Seems like I should meet more of you to see if my record will still stand. Of course, no pressure on all those Chidopers going to dinner on Saturday.
