What has the Biden administration done that's so awful?

I prefer to believe it’s simply that he’s running a tight ship as opposed to the leaky rowboat of Trump.

Four years of trump (and the resulting fallout). Two+ years of COVID and almost 1 million dead in the USA. Now Putin invades Ukraine.

I’m sure lots of us are wondering, but don’t dare ask the question out loud:

WHAT ELSE CAN POSSIBLY HAPPEN??

And through it all, Biden keeps getting out of bed in the morning and going to work. Even while plenty of people HATE him and blame him for everything from inflation (You want inflation? Come with me to the Jimmy Carter administration-- THAT was inflation!) to their dog’s fleas and their sluggish plumbing, personal as well as residential. They make fun of the vestiges of his lifelong stuttering. They say he has dementia. He takes a boatload of crap and through it all, he expresses optimism. He still seems to have hope. (Personally, I’m all out of it and have taken up permanent residence in the Slough of Despond.) He makes speeches and phone calls. He does his Presidentin’ with dignity and good cheer. He smiles. He is compassionate.

How does he do it?

He has a strong religious faith. He has been through personal tragedies, and those always eclipse public events. He loves and is loved by a supportive partner and a loyal family. Is that it? Is there more? Can I have some of it? I am a sniveling wimp in today’s world. I am in awe of his resilience and strength.

Just don’t look up.

Because he is presidential.

Actually, make that an nm.

Wouldn’t we all be surprised if his leadership and competence leads to him being the next face on Mt. Rushmore.

Like I said more than once during the campaign, “Yeah, he’s a boring old grampa, but right now a BOG is looking pretty good.”

I cannot prefer not to imagine what would have happened had Donnie Two-scoops still been Commander in Chief when the Ukraine was invaded.

He would have sent the military in to help…

Russia.

take back one of the missing parts of The Great Russian Empire . . . Alaska.

Based on Trump’s comments at the CPAC conference in late February about how Canada is run by left-wing fascists (echoing Putin’s bullshit about Ukraine), I imagine that the US military would be in Toronto by now.

I wonder which of his minions would tell him about this:

The Canadian version was War Plan Scarlet.

Can someone fill me in on what right-wing sources are saying about Biden, exactly? I’ll see some criticism on CNN, but while critical it still plays fair. Yet if I spy some anti-Biden comments in a comment box somewhere, it will typically use extreme descriptors like “disastrous” or “abysmal,” way out of proportion to what he has actually done. You’d think the guy was torching the entire country to the ground. Do these sites even give him credit for his Russian sanctions and rallying NATO? Say, specifically, what he could have done differently, while acknowledging the limits of his office?

In the rightwing-o-sphere they have to use extreme language to keep their audience engaged, or else they’ll go somewhere else for their fix of misinformation. It’s all about advertsing dollars.

They cannot say anything neutral or positve about Biden, as that would indicate weakness, or worse, compromise.

“enraged”.

This has become the standard description of anyone in power for the other party, and not just in the US. They’ve discovered that those who can be swayed to their side don’t need anything more than a simple declaration that the person is a “disaster”, and so it’s not worth the effort to actually detail why they are a disaster. They consider the reasons to be self-evident, it seems.

It’s the same thing our conservatives are saying about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and it’s exactly like Biden: There are legitimate reasons to not like Trudeau, and to desire someone else as PM (just ask anyone in the NDP, and eve most people in the Liberal Party), but those reasons are never recited by the conservative opposition. It’s just “JT is a disaster for Canada!”

Exactly right. They are counting on bumper-sticker politics and low-information citizens to keep clicking and reading just the headlines (to keep the money flowing). They know the target audience wont bother looking any deeper, and will simply take their word for it. If one of them does manage to rub a few brain cells together and take a closer look at something, they will inevitably just get all the same BS info the algorithms overlord decides to serve up to them, which just reinforces their views and positions.

I propose a new word: engraged

Republicans must be so pissed. In a year from now, we’ll be here talking about how Biden either prevented or won WWIII. Or we won’t.

I would just love it if Trump’s predecessor and successor to both won the Nobel Peace Price.

Is there an Ig-Nobel Ig-Peace Ig-Prize?
Trump could get it for last year, Putin this year.
