What have you rented from Netflix lately?

What have you rented from Netflix lately? And what’s in your queue?

I watch DVDs while on the Elliptical.

I just finished Deathrace 2000. This is tough to rate: bad acting, bad writing, bad special effects - yet I still enjoyed it.

I just finished Wildhogs. A bad bad movie. Cliche scenes, improbable ending. The highlights were Marisa Tomei who was just adorable. She was cute and flirty and I actually believed that she was happy to be with William H Macey’s character. And the surprise cameo of Peter Fonda

On deck is DOA. Now *this *is a movie to work out to. Hot women and kick-ass action. I’m guessing over-all bad if I weren’t using it to kill time while working out, but for working out this will work for me.

Also on deck is Rise: Blood Hunter which I confess I rented because of a rumor that you get to see a lot of Lucy Lui and The Warrior and the Sorceress which was mentioned here.

What have you been watching?

My last three movies:

  • Knocked Up
  • Last Stand of the 300 (documentary)
  • Hot Fuzz

At home:

  • A Mighty Heart
  • The Road Warrior

Next three in queue:

  • No End in Sight (releases 10/30)
  • Shattered City: the Halifax Explosion (I might move this down)
  • The West Wing, Season 7, Disk 1

Last three:

The TV Set (okay, not great)
Blades of Glory (funny, but I used to follow figure skating pretty avidly)
**The Dead Girl ** (really good)

Arriving today (I’m a one-at-a-time gal):
You Kill Me

Next three in queue:
Brick
Hot Fuzz
Unknown White Male
(documentary)

So funny - I returned Hot Fuzz a couple weeks ago, Brick is out of my queue because I Tivoed it this week, and You Kill Me is in the queue.

But, to answer the OP:

Re-animator, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Loved the director’s commentary - it tickles me no end that they thought they would get an R rating for a movie where The villain (who has been decapitated and brought back to life, and is carrying around his severed head) orders a girl’s zombified father to fetch her to the morgue, and strip off her clothing, so that the villain can hold his severed head over her naked body, kissing her, sucking her nipple, and finally attempting to perform cunnilingus on her
Jeeves and Wooster, which sadly I just can’t get into. Love both the leads, and it’s somewhat fun just watching them, but I guess Wodehouse isn’t for me.

Next up:

Harold and Maude (heard good things about it here)
**Persuasion **(I’m something of a Janeite)

I think you’d call my tastes . . . eclectic.

May I recommend Bride and Prejudice? It’s a Bollywood-style version of Pride and Prejudice, and I find it completely delightful.

twicks, whose middle name is “eclectic.” Yup – twicks eclectic lastname. Gets funny looks from folks checking my ID, esp. the “lastname” part.

I’ve been devouring the second season of Rome.

I don’t have Netflix, but can I play along with what I have on hold at the library?

Just Watched
28 Weeks Later (good, but no where near as cool as the original)
Day Night Day Night (a day in the life of a terrorist, what exactly did I watch?)
Bones Season 2 (just fun)

At Home
Flight of the Living: Outbreak on a Plane
Bug
Brick
Civic Duty

On Hold
High Tension
Mr. Brooks
Stupid Teenagers Must Die

My last three movies:

  • Babel
  • Owning Mahoney (true story of compulsive gambler)
  • **The Crimson Rivers ** (French murder mystery)

At home:

  • The Sopranos: Season 6: Part 2: Disc 1
  • **The Bicycle Thief **
  • Rocky/Bullwinkle & Frds: Season 2: Disc 3

Next three in queue:

  • **The Island at the Top of the World ** (for nostalgia’s sake; one of the first movies I remember seeing in the theater as a kid)
  • Dario Argento Collection: Vol. 1: **Inferno **
  • **All About Lily Chou-Chou **

Just finished Raiders of the Lost Ark, with Rifftrax.
Also Dil Chahta Hai, a Bollywood movie about the friendship between 3 guys.

The English Masters: Gainsborough is at home, waiting to be watched.

Robin Hood (the Errol Flynn one) is on its way, because DangerGirl is going to be Robin Hood for Halloween.

Everyone is welcome of course. I just wasn’t sure how much I could fit into the heading.

Western Philosophy and the first season of Bosom Buddies

Hot Fuzz seems to be popular! That was a recent one for me too.

Just returned the PBS series Lewis and Clark and speaking of cheesy movies, **The Warriors
**

Next up:
**American Splendor **and
Who Killed the Electric Car

The Lost Room, the Sci-Fi channel miniseries. Just awesome!

I just returned all of mine so I have none at home.

My last three:
The Dead Girl
Pan’s Labyrinth
Jesus Camp

Up Next:
The Deep End
Veronica Guerin
The Machinist

I am currently going through the first season of Heroes. Loivng it.

Other than that, we have had Curious George, Children of Heaven and The Great Dictator.

After having it saved for forever, I finally got to see Cleopatra.

Wow. It was really good. I recommend it. It is 4 hours though, so be prepared.

This is brilliant. I envy you; I wish I could see it again for the first time. Blew me away.

Re my own queue, I’ve had Perfume sitting on my coffeetable for what seems like three months. Maybe it is three months. Yeesh.

Last night was the original version of Bedazzled. Very funny; unfortunately I was very sleepy and kept missing bits.

My last three were Season Three of The Office (I don’t watch TV, so I don’t get to see this show until the DVDs come out), Henry Fool, and The Pursuit of Happyness.

Next up:
March of the Penguins
Claudine
Babylon 5: The Lost Tales

Last five rented:
Nights of Cabiria
Black Orpheus
Parting Glances (unable to watch, because DVD was damaged)
Modern Times
A Night at the Family Dog: Santana/Grateful Dead/Jefferson Airplane

Next in my queue:
Serenity
Lair of the White Worm
Zodiac
Parting Glances (reordered)
Battlestar Galactica, season 2 (I only just discovered this show, am catching up on it)

Upon looking at my qeue, I noticed that the Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover is still listed as ‘Saved: Availability Unknown.’ I put that in my queue so long ago that I can’t even remember when it was! Anyone know what the hold-up is about?

Cool: two items I own (Black Orpheus and Night at the Family Dog) and one I Netflixed myself a few months back (Nights of Cabiria).
