What High Schools and Colleges Did You Go To?

HS: Cherry Hill West, class of '04

College: St. John’s College, Santa Fe. Will maybe be class of 08, or 09. Or something.

Lothrop Hall for three years, then a hovel on Dawson for a year.

Biochem major until I decided I really had no talent for it, and switched to political science. I earned some cash by working for a public relations firm downtown, and a convenience store in South Oakland. Activities included a column for the Pitt News, the gun club, and of course the College Republicans.

I sometimes ate at the Tuck Shop, so our paths might have crossed there.

Large Marge, give me some years! Check this out-

Woodland Elementary School, Newport Beach, CA- 1972-1978

Kaiser Middle School, Costa Mesa, CA- 1978-1981

Newport Harbor High School, Newport Beach, CA- 1981-1985

Chapman University, Orange, CA- 1985-1987
Scary, huh? Are we close?

Fairfield Union HS, Lancaster, Ohio, '89
University of Notre Dame, '89, '92-'94 (Hated it. Had to take some time off to gird my loins.)

I know there’s at least one other Domer grad here.

Hey… my dad’s from Elkton originally, though he moved before high school.

Bergvliet High School, Cape Town, South Africa (1993 - 1997)
University of Cape Town (1998 - 2000)

I’d be suprised if any dopers went to my highschool, but it would be very cool

Burke High School; Omaha, Nebraska 1994
University of Nebraska at Lincoln; Lincoln, Nebraska 1996
University of Nevada at Las Vegas; Las Vegas, Nevada 2002

From the looks of it I am the first (and probably only) Nebraska Girl

Looks like California and Texas are a bit over-represented here. Just to add to the non-mix:

Stonewall Jackson Senior High School - Manassas, VA
University of San Diego - San Diego, CA
American University, Washington College of Law - Washington, DC

Bryan High School, Bryan OH 1983

Tri-State University, Angola IN, 1996

Another Tri-Stater and another BSEE.

[sidebar] Wow! Yeah, very close. You started high school right after I finished (1980), so it looks like we just missed each other.

So, were there fights in front of Kaiser when you attended? Why did you go there if you lived in Newport? Do you remember Mr. Champa? He was the bomb.

I’ve blocked most of the NHHS teachers from memory, but I remember Bauermeister, Orbach, Fry, Swift. You? [/sidebar]

Oh my God… Mr Chiampa WAS the bomb! The ultimate geeky science teacher! he was a geek before geek was cool! He died a few years ago I heard.

I lived very close to Kaiser, right down the street about 5 blocks towards Irvine Ave, in a little peice of Newport that stuck into Costa Mesa! We had fights, and that was the first place I ever got busted for smoking cigarettes! Over behind the field by the Boy’s Club!

Mr. Bauermeister and Mr. Donald were two of my favorite teachers. I think if he’s still alive, Mr. Donald still drives that POS Volkswagon…

Joe Swift was a great guy. I loved being in his department. Did you hear that he was accused by a student of something inappropriate? It was 100% bullshit but he never taught again. He died a few years later, still quite young. His service was lovely except that Kathy was pretty messed up and rude to a lot of his former students. There were about 30 of us there. We pulled the most current Thespian Society roster off the wall in room 120 and buried it with him.

Oh, and my mom had gone to HS with one of the assistant principles so he and I were “buddies.” It was Mike something. Youngish looking guy, tall, dark hair, wore saddle shoes a lot.

Jeez, how funny! My 20th reunion is in two weeks!

i graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, TX in '96
one year at University of the Incarnate Word
one year at San Antonio College
4 years at UT San Antonio
i haven’t ventured far from home

I graduated from a small Church of Christ affiliated high school with about 80-odd people. I try not to claim. I didn’t like the place all that much.

Goodpasture Christian School: 2001
University of Tennessee, Knoxville: May '05

GO VOLS!!

High School: Baton Rouge Magnet High School, c/o 2003, Baton Rouge, LA
College:

Me too!

So sad. I’d figure this place would be a veritable Rocker magnet. No one from the Claremont colleges either? One lonely beastie I be…

Why yes, now that you mention it. He was the audiovisual teacher (man, that sounded high-tech back in the day …), so showed us how to run film projectors and that kind of thing, as I recall. Haven’t heard that name for ages.

Currently between junior and senior year at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA. Still looking around as far as college goes.

North Olmsted High School, North Olmsted, OH (suburb of Cleveland) – Graduated in 1977 toward the top of a class of 652, which would have been larger if a handful of potential members hadn’t died (all in separate incidents) in the years leading up to commencement

Virginia Wesleyan College, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA (the campus straddles the boundary between the cities) – B.A. in English, 1981

Arcadia High School, 1998-2002 (Arcadia, CA- near Pasadena, Los Angeles, etc)

University of California at Santa Cruz, currently pursuing a B.S.; should be out by 2006.

Yes, I was sad to learn Chiampa had died. He used to live right behind the house across the street from me. Did you know that he had the coolest treehouse ever in his back yard? We could see it from our back yard.

I think I know that little pocket of Newport Beach and if it’s the one I’m thinking of, my classmate Angela Richardson lived there for a time. Is it between Del Mar and Mesa off of Irvine? That street is a stone’s throw from where I grew up.

Joe Swift was the bomb, and I think it’s horrible what happened to him. I had friends in Drama and know people who went to his service. Very cool of you to bury him with the roster! He would have loved that! Did you know Blair Brown or Terri Felde or Mark Hall? At least, I think those are their names; it was all a long, long time ago. I think they went to his funeral. They were all about two years ahead of me. I think Blair went on to earn some fame. Kelly McGillis went to NHHS too, as did Ethan Wayne–John’s son–who acted in a few things.

Thanks for this little journey down Memory Lane, EJsGirl!
