What household chore do you most enjoy?

Me, I like to vacuum. I remember a point in my life when we didn’t have a vacuum cleaner and I had to sweep the carpet with a broom. It sucked to not be able to suck!

I don’t mind washing dishes.

The ones that someone else does for me, while I do something I actually like doing.

If pressed, though, I don’t mind doing dishes as long as I can do them to my standards and not to someone else’s.

Organizing cupboards and closets. I like it so much that I will often do it at my friends’ houses (with their approval, and often appreciation, of course).

Cooking is up there. I even don’t mind making the kids’ lunches for school. And if grocery shopping can count as a household chore then that would top my list.

I used to enjoy cutting the lawn, but hate it now. My riding mower is a 15 year old rattling, bucket of nuts and bolts, prone to just about any kind of mystery breakdown at any minute. Plus it takes 3 hours. Maybe if I get another brand-spankin’ new lawn tractor I’ll be back in my happy place.

power washing

If cooking counts then that tops the list for me. I love to put on loud music and dance around while I cook, but even when that’s not possible I like it. Grocery shopping is also fun, partially because I like cooking and like to think about what I can do with this and that ingredient.

If yardwork counts then I’m all over that. Grocery shopping too.

My wife stays out of my kitchen. I stay out of her laundry room. Other than that we collaborate on the rest of the household chores.

Sweeping (hardwoods).

Laundry, except for folding T-shirts. But sorting and washing and folding a bunch of towels is cool.

Loading & unloading the dishwasher.

Laundry.

I like the orderliness of it. Plus, fresh smelling laundry when you’re done.

Well, I do enjoy cooking, so if that counts, well, that. Otherwise, vacuuming. I hate housework in most of its forms, and to me, vacuuming pays big (visible) dividends, vs the amount of time spent on the task.

I enjoy grocery shopping, but not hauling all the crap into the house and putting it away; I don’t mind loading the dishwasher, but hate emptying it; I don’t mind doing the laundry, but hate having to fold it and put it away. . .there’s a pattern here, I’m sure.

I like to vacuum too - it gets the cat hair up and it means I’ve accomplished something in decluttering and cleaning, because when the house is a mess I can’t vacuum at all. So it’s sort of an end point.

Mowing the lawn (but not trimming).
Washing dishes.
Vacuuming.

I hate when the kitchen gets so bad that it needs a complete, top-to-bottom, every-nook-&-cranny, including emptying-the-fridge-and-washing-all-the-shelves-and-drawers, cleaning. But once I’ve come to terms that it has to happen, I secretly enjoy the ‘doing’ of it, because I love the result. (But don’t tell my wife).

Leaving aside cooking which I don’t think of as a “chore”, I’d say doing the dishes. I don’t have a dishwasher so I’m used to it and there’s something relaxing about having my hands in warm sudsy water.

I like mowing the lawn (as someone else said, as long as the mower is reasonably reliable). Now that I’m a SAHM, it’s maybe the only thing I regularly do all by myself. I kind of wish it took longer.

I actually enjoy going grocery shopping. I like walking around with my list in one hand and a pen in the other, listening to my headphones. Relaxing.

Does sexing up the wife count as a chore?

Seriously though, I do like walking the dog if it’s not raining. Put on the headphones and relax for 30 minutes no matter what kind of mayhem is going on at work or home in my life…

I like laundry. I’m okay with dishes.

I hate putting away laundry or dishes.

Man…I hate all of these things, also emptying the cat box, shoveling snow, raking leaves…you name it. I am really trying to find a chore I like doing and, well, I got nothin’.
Oh wait, I like getting the mail!
Given my attitude, you’d think my house would be a complete shithole all the time but it’s actually verging on meticulous.
