They aren’t being kicked to the curb. Biden made his own decision and Sanders just isn’t polling as well. Should the Dems just put them all on the final ballot just to be fair?
I think, after eight years of OBama appearing too willing to compromise, they want a Democrat that can stand firm against Republican foolishness and obstructionism. And not be afraid to call them out on it, push back hard. And they see Hillary as just that. They may find her off putting, but they’re hoping she’ll chew up the Republicans. They won’t mind being the party to elect the first Female president either.
But it seems to me the Republicans are determined to lose, regardless of who the Democrats run. Their own candidates are going to be their biggest problem, looks like. And now they’re kind of competing at being ridiculous.
If she were to get pregnant at her age, I think we’d be riffing off the Abraham-and-Sarah story.
I dunno about that. Inoffensive personality-wise, but in public-policy terms, very offensive to TPTB.
Or anxiously awaiting the lizard baby.
God DAMN it, there’s ANOTHER fucking 2015 urban legend that’s driving me nuts! Everyone who points out that Jeb! is a mook feels the need to talk about how “likable” W. was, in comparison.
Dubya was NOT LIKABLE. He is a smarmy, smirking, incurious, weasel-faced assmonkey, and he always was, and if I were forced to “have a beer” with him I would pour it down the front of his trousers. And give him a whack on the balls with the empty.
I’m Biffy the Elephant Shrew and I endorse this message.
They pulled it once before. Just understand that once you nominate her there are no backsies.
Oh, I agree totally. But throughout the 2000 cycle, it was certainly the conventional wisdom that he was likable, and few of us were going to find out otherwise before the 2000 election.
What are you referring to?
The helpful Doper Republicans giving us advice about who to REALLY nominate in November remind me an awful lot of Br’er Rabbit… “DON’T throw me in that thar briar patch, Br’er Fox! Anything but THAT!”
Oh, holy shit. One whack on the balls would be too good for Dubya.

“My brother kept us safe.” - John Ellis Bush
Where “us” excludes American soldiers and the clock starts 9/12/2001.
I suspect that he’s referring to incumbent New Jersey Senator Robert Torricelli winning the Democratic primary in June, 2002, running into a major ethics scandal, dropping out of the campaign in September, and getting replaced on the ballot by Frank Lautenberg (who proceeded to win the general election).
But I don’t think anything like that has ever happened in a presidential race, at least not since the primary system was introduced.
It did happen, therefore, it can happen. Which would mean that there are “backsies”. But the exception proves the rule, so, really, there aren’t. QEDuh

New Jersey, when they did the switcheroo like 3 days before the election cuz their guy got indicted.
So I don’t want to hear that it was totally unexpected and it’s just so unfair that the Democrats can’t switch to Biden.
If Hillary is indicted…Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine will be the nominee. He’s from Virginia. He was a governor. He was on Obama’s VP list in 2008. He has national security experience.
