What in the heck is "DOE"?

Not the pro-coal government department, the thing that I keep seeing after salaries as I look for jobs online. Does that mean debatable? That it’s salary, not hourly, or that it’s hourly and estimated? That the number quoted is for me as an independent contractor and I have to pay taxes on it? These are jobs in the theatre world, if it matters. Thanks!

depends on experience

Or, more grammatically correct: “depending [up]on experience.” As in:

“Salary $35,000 DOE”

A deer, a female deer.

A deer. A female deer.
