What Ipod touch(or Iphone) games do you like?

I’ve been having fun with Helsing’s Fire lately - it was just featured on the iTunes Store front page in the “Stylish Games” category. Only $0.99, and it’s a fun puzzle game with a Helsing/Dracula theme and woodcut-style graphics for the various characters. You progress through the game in storyline mode by using different tactics to fight the undead infesting the city. The basic idea is that you put a torch down to try to illuminate as many undead as possible in that area, then use a tonic to make the light explode outward and scorch the undead. The game gradually introduces more concepts - more complex game boards, shielding for the undead and different kinds of tonics to counteract them, innocent bystanders that would be hurt if caught in the explosion, monsters who hurl missles at you after an attack, and so forth. Clever, and a nice story and theme.

What are the best RPG’s you have played? I’m trying to keep it cheap right now. I have Chaos Rings(both of them) and a couple others on my appshopper wish list.

Do Itunes and it’s app companies have sales during the Xmas season? Is that common?

I just added Helsing’s fire to my wish list as well. It does sound cool.

RPG suggestions: Battleheart for $2.99, Dungeon Hunter 1 and 2 for $4.99 and $6.99 respectively (Diablo-esque, both have free sample versions), and Pocket RPG for $4.99 are all fun. I suggest wish-listing the first and last ones if the descriptions in iTunes appeal to you, and try the free “lite” versions of Dungeon Hunter 1 and 2 to see if you like those.

Gameloft is having a large Thanksgiving sale, reducing many games to 99 cents, including Eternal Legacy, a Final Fantasy clone game I just got. Usually $5, now just $1.

Moxie - word jumble game, wife loves it.

I like turn based war/strategy games:
Neuroshima Hex! HD - exactly like the board game and the AI is great.
Tactical Soldier HD - Zombies are loose in an army barracks, wonderful squad turn based game (very similar to X-COM), just wish the missions didn’t end in failure if you lose anyone.
Crimson Pirates - pretty good from what I’ve played so far.
King of Dragon Pass - A role playing type game where you are the chief of a small clan and you have to make decisions to help it grow. It’s deep so will take some work to get a lot out of it but I highly recommend it to RPG/fantasy fans.

I just wanted to pop in an recommend a podcast that reviews iOS apps called Appslappy. Not all the apps reviewed are games, but many of them, particularly the ones Scott reviews, are.

I’ve been enjoying a game called “King Cashing”, which is a strange mashup between an RPG and a slot machine–.99. I've also just downloaded the UNO app for .99, and it is very well done.

RAVENMARK: Scourge of Estellion looks awesome, I’m downloading it now.

Yesterday I was browsing New Apps and found Saving Yello. It’s an Angry Birds type game, saving a little fish from his bratty toddler that likes to take him out of his bowl, and destroying her toys while working your way back to the bowl. It’s really a kick, and I’ve worn my way through the free game in an afternoon. Sweet little game.

I’m really into Eternal Legacy now that I’ve played it for about 4 hours. It’s first hour was unappealing, but it has picked up quite a bit and I’m liking the gameplay and style.

99 cents this weekend, too.

The whole game is free right now, by the way.

Don’t know about “good”, but I’m not bad. STERLINGSEZ (invite open to any doper)

I’m looking for some games that I can quickly play for just a couple minutes at a time. Frequently, at work, I’m stuck on hold while talking to a client or another department. Games such as words with friends and Angry Birds are perfect for this short time.

Any other free or inexpensive suggestions for games that I can quickly load and play for just a couple minutes at a time. Games like Angry Birds and Words with Friends are perfect since I don’t really have to think when I play. I love Chess with Friends, but I can’t quickly play that game since I have to spend a couple of minutes just familiarizing myself with the board, especially if I’m playing multiple games. I also enjoy Scramble, but I can’t play that at work since I don’t know if I’ll have 2 uninterrupted minutes except at lunch.

I’d also like to find games that don’t involve having to constantly ask for energy or beg for things from my friends to keep playing the game. There are some work days where it will be slow and I’ll have more time to play games so I don’t want to wait for people to send me free gifts or have to spend $$$ to buy gifts just to keep playing.

Jetpack Joyride is a great little ‘few minutes at a time’ game. And I believe it’s free at the moment.

I’m bumping this because a pretty good deal came up today.
Ticket to Ride Pocket is free! Just for today, I think. Grab it while it’s free.

Try playing Infinity Blade II

I usually play the prequel when I have to kill a lot of time waiting for a bus etc. I’m sure the sequel will be just as good or even better. It costs a little bit, but I’m sure it’s worth it!

I ended up getting a cheap iPad because the tiny screens of my iPod were hard for me, but most or all of these can be played on iPod/iPhone.

I enjoy a gorgeous game called LostWinds. It’s a little bit like Okami. I haven’t gotten very far on it yet, but it’s a beauty. TinyWings is great too!

I’ve been playing Pocket Frogs (frog breeding), Lil’ Pirates, and DragonVale, but have now decided that I will never again make an in-app purchase. Very do-able with these games, but tempting nonetheless.

I like Textropolis and Fishtropolis, word games where you make as many words as you can from a given word.

BallFallDown is really fun! You move wooden bars, shapes, flippers, etc. onto a board and let various balls run through it. It’s totally a playground game, free.

W.E.L.D.E.R. is really good. It’s a mix of scrabble and gem matching, very challenging.

Indie games: there’s a new game out called Waking Mars that looks great, made by the same people as the mystery game Spider The Secret of Bryce Manor. They both intrigue me, but haven’t played them yet.

I use an app called App Deals Free (something like that, made by appsfire). It tracks price changes and free games.

Has anyone played the Carcossonne app? I’ve never played the board game, but it looks great.

I haven’t bought the app yet, but I have seen it in action and played the board game. If you have 2 friends, it would make for an ideal board game to get. While you can play 2-player, Carcassonne works best with 3 or more.

However, some excellent board games have just price-dropped to 99 cents for the first time even and I highly recommend them. Get:

Tikal
Tigris and Euphrates
Ra

Be happy with those!

I’ve taken many of the recommendations from this thread today. It’s fun to have excess games to look forward to – kind of like filling bookshelves with unread books.

For the board game apps,** Mahaloth**, I was hoping to play in solitaire mode or against AI until I learned it well enough to play online. But if, as I suspect, these games have massive complexity, with obsessed uber-players in the online pool, then I’d probably better pass. I do like the visual beauty of European games.
