I’ve been playing Let’s Golf 3 a lot lately. The graphics are impressive and it plays pretty well. The free version features an “energy meter” that allows you to play only 5 to 8 holes (depending on how well you do) at a session. Once you’ve used up your energy points, you have to either pay for more or wait 5 hours to play again. This may sound annoying, but I kind of like that it helps keep me from wasting hours on end playing a silly game on my phone.
If you like tower defense games, the best I have ever played, so far above the rest that it’s not even in the same league, is Jelly Defense.
Not only has it got the best (and cutest) graphics and animation of any tower defense game I’ve seen, it’s also surprisingly challenging. The rounds are short and sweet and require you to interact with them rather than set up your towers and go and make a cup of coffee. The weapons are fallible and the upgrades interesting. I’m not a games person, and I’ve tried maybe 20 different TD games in the past and I tire of them quickly. This is the only one to keep my interest consistently over several weeks.
You can, but it will take a very, very long time for you to get very far with it if you don’t have friends. Friends exist mainly to give you things that you can do to make your farming life easier - for example, parts for harvesters, seeders, and tractors, without which you have to go to each of your farm plots individually three times in order to replace a finished crop with a new one. (Also, FV is notorious for having strange “ready” times for some of its crops - if you need an 8-hour crop, you have to harvest it between 8 and 20 hours after you planted it or it withers, so if you play at the same time every day, it can cause problems.)
I’m sitting here holding my breath for a true war game, in the mean time New World Colony isn’t terrible.
My friends/family and I have been addicted to “Draw Something” the past few weeks. Kind of a Pictionary style game. Free and pay versions are available for iOS and Android.

For zombie games you could do worse than Rebuild, a quasi SimCity where you start with a couple of survivors on 4 blocks surrounded by a zombie infested city. You’re tasked with growing your safe zone, finding food, training the scavengers you come across, or just screwing everyone else and escape all by yourself.
