Wait a goshdarndiggilly second…mine are in stock! Therefore, eat my shorts, you…you…shorteater.
I miss the Marathon candy bar that was already mentioned. I also miss Astro Pops.
I miss those little wax bottles that had that colored liquid in them.
I also miss a candy bar that I think was called Choco-lite; milk chocolate with these little nooks in it if you broke it open.
They still sell a bastardized version of these, instead of the pointy end out, they’ve reversed them!
What good is a lollipop if there isn’t the possibility of stabbing yourself in the throat?
I have discovered a new level of Hostess evil: Carmel filled Ho-Hos.
I bought two packs.
:o
Now… they could improve on the Chocodile by wrapping the Twinkie in a layer of caramel before dipping it into the chocolate.
I admit it: I’m quite evil as well.
I think the ones I’m talking about are off-brand coconut flags. They come in those plastic bag things that have the paper at the top, only you always end up having to tear the paper off and get into the plastic part with your teeth or something. I believe the version I always see is more square, but that seems to be basically the same thing.
Fresh coconut is okay. Things made with coconut milk are fantastic. Fake dyed coconut candy…
Then again, like I said, never tried it. Unlike circus peanuts which I know are revolting.
(but now I find myself irresistably craving them, damn you)
I never saw strawberry Charleston Chew as a kid. But I do recall a candy that came in chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla varieties. It was designed to be frozen and then smacked sharply against a tabletop, so as to shatter it into bite-sized shardlets. I just made up that word by the way. I’ll license it at a penny an utterance to anyone who wants to use it. The candy I remember is Bonomo Turkish Taffy.
The TV jingle for it was set to the tune of “Hey Look Me Over”
Hmmm…decisions, decisions…
Sour-Balls and/or Cry-Babies.
ULTRA sour balls of bubblegum…so sour they made your face do arobics.
I’m convinced they wore the enamel down on my molars.
<temporary hijack>
I just “got” Enola Straight’s screenname. Doh.
</hijack>
Now that I realize what Zots are, I want one! I’ve only had one, and it came out of a gumball machine. I had no idea what to expect, but I loved it!
Maybe it wasn’t a brand-name Zotz though - do they have nubbly-textured outsides?
I am now savoring the Caramel Ho-Hos.
Oh. My. GOD.
Normally I am not a Ho-Ho fan. I prefer Hostess Cupcakes and Apple Pies.
Moan*.
This is the kind of rapturous pleasure akin to love at first sight, sex being phenomenal out of the gate, or the perfect kiss.
Oh Caramel Ho-Hos. You are now the stand in for the man who is not showing up yet. Entreat me to thy luscious dark sensuousness, 'til the celestial clue by four whomps him and brings the head trauma victim to me.
For your twinkie eating enjoyment and edification.
There are Oh, Henry!s in the United States. I think they even sell them at my campus convenience store. I haven’t had one in years, though.
I always ate the Fun Dip and the Lik M Sticks separately. I also love Ring Pops though it’s been ages since I could wear one properly. I can consume four or five Blow Pops at a sitting, which colors my tongue hideously and gives a nice sugar buzz.
I also remember Warheads and Cry-Babies. I’m not too crazy about sour candies (sour is for pickles, I feel) but I liked those a lot.
After reading this thread, I suddenly remembered **Tootsie Pop Drops ** (basically, Tootsie Pops without the stick), Caravelle Bars (Peter Paul’s version of Nestle’s $100,000 Bar, and Nestle’s Chocolite Bar (air-puffed milk chocolate). There was also a bar Nestle put out c. 1970 that, I think, consisted of layers of “white” chocolate (yes, I know there’s no such thing as “white” chocolate), milk chocolate, and dark chocolate. I don’t remember the name though. In any case, all these candies have been off the market for years.
That wasn’t the Seven Up Bar was it? Unfortunately, it’s also been discontinued.
Let’s see…I miss Tart N Tinys. Haven’t seen them around lately, but I probably really haven’t been looking for them. I think they were also a Wonka product.
I also used to love MVP gum and Gatorgum. They were sports gum. I haven’t seen either of those for a long time.
It’ been a while since I’ve seen these, but the last time I did, they had started candy coating them. They should’ve been prosecuted for that, IMO!
Does anyone else remember B-B-Bats? Those were pretty good, if memory serves.
Hmmm…I have seen that Beeman’s gum, but did not think it was pepsin-flavored as the chicklets were. Only one way to find out!
Does anyone remember the crunchy reeces candy? It was reeces peanut butter cups with nuts in them. That was the only way I would eat them. I can’t find them anymore in my area. Has anyone seen these lately?
Yes, there once was a Crunchy Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. I loved them and haven’t seen them in at least 10 years.
Has anyone on here ever had a Seven Up bar? I’m curious about it and there’s very little info on the net.
Does anyone else remember Cherry Mash? Sort of a haystack shaped wad of cherry flavored cream, covered in chocolate. I haven’t seen them in age. I’m really old!
