What is brand of canned chili is your favorite?

Nalley. Others seem off to me. I usually keep a few cans in the pantry. It’s a quick meal, and I live alone.

With beans for me. Yes, I know that technically chili is the sauce part, but it doesn’t make a complete meal by itself.

because this thread got into my head, I had a chili dog today with Hormel, no beans. If that is truly the best America has to offer, I apologize on behalf of my people to the rest of the world. Also thinking of starting a canned chili business.

I chose Campbell’s but I am all good with any brand of chili.

Who said Hormel is the “best America has to offer”? IMO, Hormel chili is awful; there’s no recognizable chunks of meat. Instead it’s sort of a slurry. Not very appetizing.

By GOD, I LOVE the rich aroma of acrimony in SDMB chili threads!

I have ever eaten canned chili, and would not think of consorting with those who have. But I wanted to tell tenacious j that the BEST topping for a chili dog, bar none, is homemade Cincinnati-style chili.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned Ray’s. It’s delicious.

I agree with your estimation.
My unscientific suggestion that it’s among the best canned chilis was because it’s #2 in this poll (I believe it was #1 for a while) and I looked up a few online reviews where it was consistently #3 or above. I haven’t tried Wolf but have been told and read here that they are very similar. If there is truly one out there that tastes like home chili I’ll try it. So far, what’s been mentioned here as non-listed favorites are not available in my store.

Keep in mind my last post was heavily influenced by a stomach full of canned chili, hot dogs of unknown origin, and mustard. Urp.

Perhaps Hormel ranked highest because it’s the most available brand nationally?

Offered without comment.

Yeah, those are my two faves, cant decide. Cant vote for both…
