What is Currently Making You Happy?

In two weeks from now, I will move in with my fiance and we can stop with this long distance nonsense. It will be a major relief, as we’ve been doing long distance on and off for a couple of years now and are ready to settle down in the same place. I’ve got most of my books packed, and will start on my clothes and other things in the next week. I’m so excited!

Now all I need is a decent library job while I go to library school. I’m definitely going to have to visit the local libraries in person to see if there are any part time things available to me that’d help get me some more experience while I’m in school.

All the unicorns I’ve trapped in the sea.
But right now I’m excited because I went to speak at our statehouse yesterday against a bill that I felt strongly about. I got some very positive feedback from people there, and aparently VPR was recording, because a few folks have heard me on the radio now. Kinda neat.

We got new bicycles this week and I’m having a blast with mine.
My grandmas are both recovering nicely after having surgery in the past couple of weeks.
I found the pickles I have been looking for and craving ever since I had them on a sub sandwich two weeks ago while visiting my grandma was in the hospital. (I never thought I’d say it, but if I could eat at that hospital every day, I would.) Can’t wait to have them on my wrap at lunch today.
It’s Friday and it’s going to be 70 degrees today. Even better, it’s supposed to be 73 tomorrow and in the 80s on Sunday.
I got some new clothes this week.
I’ve lost weight and feel fantastic.

I just posted this elsewhere, but too bad. I have on a new pair of suede tall cowgirl boots for which I paid only $19.95 for (not the $38 listed here, which is also an amazing price, but I paid LESS!). They smell nice and leathery, and they make me feel AWESOME!

Also I’m thrilled it’s Friday because this has been a very long and peril-fraught week.

I got an email last week from a fairly senior guy at big oil company begging me to work for him.

Planting things and puppies. Plus the synthetic estrogen, etc. from the pills I stopped taking are almost out of my system (I think).

I finally worked up the nerve to ask someone the questions that have been haunting me for 20 years or so. He answered, openly and honestly. The answers were no surprise, but it helped me to validate my experiences and feelings while allowing me to close the door on some very painful parts of my life. It made me more than happy.
Oh yeh, and I just got the most gorgeous boxes for one of my best friends’ wedding gift(s) to go in. Since I work for the distributor, I got them about half price. I got me a set of them too. They are stunning.

HoosierDaddy suprised the family with a computer for the girls. He set it up and loaded games appropriate for their age and picked out a cute mouse pad with a polar bear (aawwwwww) on it so everything was ready to rock when I brought them home from daycare one night this week. Even sweeter is how good the girls have been about taking turns and sharing. And pretty startling is how naturally computing comes to a 2 and a 4 year old!

Also happy that my mom’s cataracts are now both gone and after over 50 years of wearing **THICK ** glasses, she is close to 20/20 in one eye and more like 20/40 in the other.

Work is easy. No stress there.

Weather should be nice this weekend so we’ll get to spend a lot of time outside.

General YAY’s all around.

A girl.

It needn’t be much else.

It’s been raining nearly constantly here in Adelaide since Wednesday night. Not heavy downpour that runs off straight away, but a good, slow, soaking rain that gets right down into the soil. I’m not a gardener, but it’s still something that makes me happy… Until I have to get the mowing guy in again because the back yard’s gone feral.

The brand new look of my house. Still not totally finished but close enough that I can feel it taking shape. So far we have all new furniture in the living areas, all new kitchen installed the day before yesterday, new paint in awesome colours all around.

Still to come: outside paint and resealing the roof. New windows for all the living areas (front of the house). New lamps for the outside. Install new ceiling lamps in the kitchen.

The house is just looking awesome. We finally have furniture of the right size for our house. All warm and earth colours. All our books shelved. A new TV with a new PC hooked up to it. The whole house feels twice the size it was.

I love it!

Oh! Oh! Oh! I’m happy cause I know what book I want to read RIGHT NOW.

Also, I’m happy that it’s Friday and soon will be Saturday, which is a weekend, and I will be not at work, and I can pack some boxes which will make mr.emilyforce more happier as we are moving so soon and I am so often lazy, and it is spring! And there was a daddy cardinal singing **"Babies! I have wonderful cardinal babies! And they are the best and I am the best and they are babies!" **right outside our kitchen window when I got home today.

I’m happy because I’m home from work and my marriage is wonderful. And while my friend will suffer tonight, my husband and I are at peace and in love.

He’s a great guy and not mad at all that the bag tore that had the kitty litter in it that I carried all the way down the hall, down the stairs and through the dining room. He’s also fresh from the shower.

Long distance Japanese GF visiting in 2 weeks.

Making money at my job.

My dick grew 3 inches overnight.

Ok one of those was a lie :stuck_out_tongue:

Two things: WhyBaby had her periodic checkup at the Developmental Clinic at the hospital where she was born 4 months early, and she’s doing great! Her cognitive and receptive speech skills are perfectly within normal limits* and her productive speech is only mildly delayed - AND she’s shown more than six months worth of development on it in the past six months, which suggests she’s catching up!

Second: my husband, after 10 years, if finally going to submit and defend his dissertation this summer and get his PhD!!! Woot!

*Despite the fact that she couldn’t name “cookie” when shown a picture of a chocolate chip cookie. My bad - she’s only ever had graham and animal crackers! She also couldn’t respond when asked to “give the baby doll some ice cream”, but picked up the spoon like a pro when asked to “give the baby doll some yogurt”! I’m obviously stunting her growth with my hippiefied ways!

Yay Caileigh! (I think I spelled that right.)

I am happy because I just nearly finished this really cute ruffled skirt for my 6-yo, and there is fabric for the 4-yo’s ruffly skirt next to the sewing machine. One is peach, the other lilac (and the same print, so they match!) and they will be very twirly indeed, as well as even somewhat stylish. And they are a snap to put together–I started after dinner and watched some TV this evening too.

Yep, you got it!

Oh, cute! I generally don’t sew baby clothes, 'cause they grow so darn fast, but I got her a couple cute little hippie skirts (at the Dollar Tree, of all places), and she loves them, but they’re a little snug, so I might break out the scrap and build her a proper one. Twirly is indeed key. Are you using a pattern? (And if so, got a pattern number?)

I’m both happy and nervous because I’m officially changing jobs this summer and making a huge move - I’ll be heading to Tucson from Ohio. I’m finishing up the writing of my resignation letter so I can get it submitted Monday, satisfying the terms of my union contract as to the amount of notice I have to give.

One major thing that thrills me about this is that I will no longer have to deal with any kind of lake effect snow. Sure, it’ll be HOT in Tucson, but I can deal with that so much better than the winters in NE Ohio.

I may have found a house to rent - a house, as opposed to an apartment - it’s very small at 550 square feet, but that’s about what I have in the apartment here with the thundering herd of elephants above me. Plus washer/dryer connections and the rent’s not much more than I pay here - I’m just waiting for them to have pictures to send over to me to decide if I want to have them do the background check.

And I’ve quit smoking (yes, again, but dammit, this time it’s taking). I’m just over 3 weeks off them - the Chantix has really worked like a charm and I didn’t come off cigarettes when I was supposed to because I was trying to convince myself that the Chantix wouldn’t work for me. But then I had to admit that the cigarettes were tasting like ass, I was taking about 2 drags off each one before I put it out and I didn’t physically want them when I had them - mentally & habit wise, yeah, I wanted them, but physically there weren’t the cravings.

yay me!

Yesterday, My Guy returned from his 4-day business trip. We had so much sex last night (and again this morning) that I’m experiencing a wonderful “depleted” feeling.

It’s McCalls 5159, one of the easy cheapie patterns. Really, you barely need a pattern. If you like, I’ll email you basic instructions.
