What is on top of your computer monitor?

At home: Nothing. The bar that holds my speakers on either side of the monitor makes it too precarious up there for anything to stay very long. It is wide enough to perch my digital camera on when I am downloading from it. And sometimes I put my cordless telephone handset up there. Briefly.

At work (from left to right): One of the best paper airplanes in the world, a christmas card from lady bug, a birthday card from lady bug, a photo of lady bug, a “thinking of you” card from lady bug, and a stack of CDs including IDL demo, ENVI demo, Analog Devices Designer’s Guide, a Kodak Image Sensor Solutions product catalog, NI-DAQ for Windows NT, and NI Motion Control Software for Windows NT. I don’t believe any of the CDs have ever been used more than once.

I also used to have a squishy brain, one that made disgusting squishy noises when you squished it, but somebody made off with it. Yes, I lost my mind.

At work: nothing sits atop my monitor.

At home: my cat (real life cat not some dopey toy. :P) usually sits atop my monitor whether it is on or not. I am so happy he doesn’t shed because then my screen would be fuzzy.

HUGS!

Well nothing on the monitor but on the shelf just above it we have Yakko, Wakko, and Dot holding hearts ina Valentine’s wish.

At home, I use a laptop. There’s not much surface area to play with, so there’s nothing on top or stuck to the sides.

At work, I am told to maintain a clean workspace, so no plastic animals or such. However, like GingerOfTheNorth, the edges of the screen are festooned with Post-It Notes, most of them too illegible for anyone else but me to understand. If they only knew…

I think maybe if I put another vid card in the 300 pl, and move on top of my second computer(which has 4 vid cards), I could fit one more monitor in this cube…two more maybe if I got rid of my briefcase

On top of my monitor I don’t really have anything. But on the shelf above my monitor, I have stacks of CD cases, and floppy disks. My green Furby is asleep now. To the left of my Furby is a little wooden carved statue of a mountain climber that says, “STAVANGER” on the mountain, and to the left of him is my computer cam.

  1. A pewter Lara Croft figure
  2. A plastic figure of a “licker” - a monster from the video game Resident Evil 2

1 (one) britney Spears valentine from a co-worker
1 (uno) Pertified blue peep-type marshmellow rabbit
1 (solomente) nameplaque from my old office

Atlantis action figures of a gun tottin’ Helga and Kida with her spear thingie.

Pewter fig of a bad-ass sword swinging, chick in chainmail that’s painted to resemble one of my Amber characters.

Another fig of the chick in chainmail’s battle horse in it’s unicorn armor.

At Work:

  1. A beanie-baby (“Wise” - given to me because he has the same birthday as me).
  2. A multi-colored stegosaurus beanbag (also given to me).
  3. A green, plush triceratops (purchased from the Smithsonian MNH while in D.C. on business).

At Home:
The center-channel speaker for my mini-theater system.

Some weird multi colored ribbon thingy that my wife said looks like the Gay Pride Rainbow. I like it. It’s pretty.

Just a miniature card, with a smily face, telling me “Don’t worry be happy”. It was from my wife.

Lessee…a little rubber skull and an empty cassette case for Heavy Horses by Jethro Tull.

Just a beanie baby fox and a pseudo-beanie baby ring tailed lemur. Attached to the side of my monitor is a screen brush thanks to Millenium Solutions, whoever they are (picked it up as a promo at a trade show).

At work, my monitor is spiffy clean since the owner doesn’t seem like the toys and bric-a-brac type.

This

As we have one of those “computer desks,” there isn’t much space above the monitor. Sometimes I put the jewel box of whatever cd I listening to on there. Affixed to the front is an orange sticker reminding me to do my Kegels. Attached to the side is a mini mobile (given to me by a friend for my birthday because it is in “my” colors-purple and teal) meant as a distraction to rest my eyes while reading.

Above the monitor, however, is a shelf. On it are:

a whole bunch of computer game cds that don’t fit into the little slots.

two little speakers

four bottles of nail polish

an emery board

two pair of scissors

a small stuffed Pikachu

the hot-sync thing for my Visor

a small plastic bowl holding the raisins my youngest didn’t finish

two cassette tapes of Bob and Tom…(where the hell did those come from?)

two boxes of checks

one box of legal size envelopes

one watch battery that I’m supposed to replace for a game belonging to my daughter

one map of eastern Massachusetts/downtown Boston

one box of 1/2" Arrow staples

and, of course, the requisite dust (you don’t think all that could accumulate without some dust formation, do you?)

At work – nothing. I’m not much for chatchkis.

At home – pictures from the SLO-Dope, which I shall be bringing to Demo’s BBQ, if I remember them.

On the left is Pistachio, my little grey squirrel beanie. On the right is Gatomon, one of my Digimon beanies.

The shelf immediately above the monitor holds a Puffkin bear, three Puffkin bunnies and my ladybug lamp.

At work, I have a Dust Puppy, a black bear beanie baby and (of course) dust.

At home, I just have dust.

At work…

A wooden dolphin a friend bought me from Maui

A Jay and Silent Bob bumper sticker that says " Better Than Your P.O.S."

Around the edges of the monitor itself, post it note reminders of things to do

On my phone, I have a quote from an email one of my best friends sent me “Don’t forget, you rock damn it.” Sometimes you just need that little ego boost.
