I see this “Read 7h (2h recently)” (example only) in people’s profile when I click on their name. What is this? My best guess would be that it’s how long the user has been logged on the SDMB site, both total and for that day (or something).
- Is that about right?
- I’m not sure I really want people to know how much of a loser I am to spend X number of hours here on any given day (or even worse, in toto)
What’s the dealio?
Yup, but not logged in. Discourse assigns a time to read each post, and it adds them all together for your total read time. I’m not sure how recently counts as recently.
Notice the little blue dots beside each new post? Those mean it’s unread. When they disappear, the time to read the post was added to your total read time.
Why? Why is this information important? Is it just another pissing-contest that Discourse uses to drive pageviews or badges or whatever?
I don’t want people to know how much time i spend on any website.
There are some Discord people around. Guess you could find one and ask them.
