what is the best song by ...?

Beatles: Revolution, Across the Universe

Nickelback: unknown, you choose

Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb, Shine on You crazy Diamond 1-5

Led Zeppelin: Battle of Evermore, When the Levee Breaks

Stones: Sympathy for the Devil, Paint it Black

God! Now I wanna rock out to some Stones, Zep, Beatles, Floyd! Darn you all…

Dude, I recommend Jeff Buckley’s Grace CD, BTW. Heavenly!

We miss you, Jeff!

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
Nickelback- Too Bad
Beatles- Paperback Writer
Rolling Stones- Sweet Virginia

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (albeit overused)
Beatles - I’ll Follow the Sun, Norwegian Wood

It’s surprising nobody’s mentioned Hey Jude yet. I’m not a big Beatles fan but that would be my choice (unless you want to include the solo careers of the four).

And another vote for Stones’ Satisfaction.

The best Coldplay song is actually “Don’t Panic”. And though I wouldn’t be able to choose the best Tool, it definitely ain’t “Schism”. Maybe “Aemina” or “Eulogy”.

My favorite Beatles song happens to be “Eleanor Rigby”. Not to criticize your musical tastes (though I already have), there is no “best Nickelback song” because there is no good Nickelback song.
I agree with “Paint it Black” for the best Stones.

First, best song is an ephemeral thing for me…depends on mood, etc.

That said,

Led Zeppelin (my namesake): Misty Mountain Hop / Kashmir
Pink Floyd : Comfortably Numb
NIN : Hurt
Tool : Sober
Hendrix: Dolly Dagger

Bonus: Most overrated song:
Derek and the Dominos: Layla

Stones - Paint It Black
Floyd - Dogs
Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows

Tenacious D answered this question in their song “The Best Song in the World…Tribute”.

Stones : Gimme Shelter
