Pretty much the stock answer any time someone asks “what was that awesome choral piece I heard in movie X’s trailer?” is “Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, especially the ‘O Fortuna’ section.” It is used that often. In this case, while Carmina was not used, the score (I’m guessing it’s original to the movie) is very, very clearly based on Orff’s piece. Look it up on Amazon, listen to the audio clips, and I’m sure you can pick up the strong similarities. I would, of course, encourage you to get the original, hear for yourself why this thing is so often used or copied, and be forever enlightened.

It’s not Carmina. I didn’t recognize it at all, and I’m vaguely familiar with many such pieces…

Heh. I saw the trailer and was wondering what this post was, because I didn’t remember any music by The Coral

I’m pretty sure it’s independent music made specially for the trailer, or generic music bought from a special trailer-soundtrack-making company (there are a few of them around these days).

This page says “Immediate Music”, but I’m not sure if they’re talking about this particular trailer, or the previous one.

Actually, listening to the trailer, I can here the word “Lacrimosa” several times, so that listing at Soundtrack.net is probably correct.

thanks for the tips…

It sure isn’t Carmina Burana… haven’t seen that one used in trailers for quite a while. Its too well known by now.

Ack, guys, I didn’t say it was Carmina. I said it was a copy.

You say Carmina,
And I say Burana.
You say Carmina,
And I say Burana.
Carmina!
Burana!
Carmina!
Burana!
Let’s call the whole thing off.

Except that it’s funnier than that…

Let’s Carl the whole thing Orff.
Wheee, classical music humor.
