This question is inspired by Aristophanes’ Lysistrata. What is the lion on a cheese grater position? Has any one found an ancient Greek cheese grater so we can be sure?
You might find a modern “Greek Cheese Grater” in Athens. Maybe a dead ancient one too.
I don’t know, but according to the translator’s notes in the Crofts Classics edition of Lysistrata, it’s actually the “lioness on a cheese-grater.” (The translator substituted the name of another ancient sexual position, the “Horse of Hector,” for the sake of rendering things intelligible to a modern audience.)
