** What is the most exciting thing you will do today? ** Post this.
Since the day is almost over I will post retroactively.
The most exciting thing I did was meet my wife, son and my parents at a restaurant in our town for dinnner (my parents live 200 mile away so I don’t see them so often). I had a beer or two while I was waiting.
Oh, and earlier today I applied for membership in a professional society in my field.
Oh, and the Ivory billed woodpecker thing was deeply exciting but it isn’t something I did.
Oh it was such an exciting day. I had my first Chipotle burrito. Then my coworker and I made our weekly Mr. Softee run.
AND, on the way home, I woke up from my train nap, to see a perfect, full rainbow. And even got to take pictures of it, because I had just so happened to bring my camera into the city with me today. Unfortunately, because I was on a moving train, the pics aren’t all that great, but still. Made my day
Well its Friday here in the Land Of Oz. 1:30pm to be exact. So if we’re talking Thursday, then I went out and spent a HUGE amount on new clothes for the incoming change of season. If we’re talking today…then I’ll have to say that the start of my long weekend will be spent at The Adrenalin Sports Bar with friends and a vodka…
Or four
I have no beer, because I drank the last one yesterday evening. Tonight I did the same thing as yesterday: stopped off at Home Depot, bought bark mulch, spread and raked it, then squirted the dandelions with vinegar-dishsoap-death-spray. In lieu of beer, I drank some ginger ale. I ate leftover Chinese food, checked my email, then ended up here. Where I will probably linger until bedtime, instead of doing something productive. I should be doing the dishes, tidying the place up, putting clothes away, but…
It’s more fun here.
Shot an interview with Brent Barry of the Spurs, they killed Denver last night. Looking forward to more of the same. Practiced with the band, well Henry the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. It’s getting tough to gather the whole group lately.
I have run spyware removal tools for my dear, though not very computer-savvy, co-worker. (Someone has to be very un-savvy of computer if I can help them.) I have made most of a truly riveting Powerpoint presentation on school vouchers. I have listened to my tummy rumble. I have been paid for my computer work. I am posting here, reading about all this sex people will be having. I will study for my macro theory test tomorrow and just maybe I won’t fall asleep on my book from the sheer wonder of it all.
Oh yeah…I forgot to mention the great sex I’ll be having…
If I can find someone
Bah! Boo! Hiss!
I think I’ll have dinner, then come back to the office and catch up on the big life-eating project that, thank God, has only a couple more weeks to go. When I’ve had about all I can take, I’ll post a few messages to the SDMB…
And so here I am. Now I think I’ll go home and see if **shE. Thorp ** is still awake.
I will set up the ant farm I got for my birthday.
Blade Runner. I think I’ll rent it this weekend. Which may be the most exciting thing I do in the next three days.
In fact, maybe I’ll have a Philip K. Dick film festival. Sure beats re-organizing my basement, which was the *other * exciting thing I had planned.
Tonight, my band, Yell County, is playing a headlining gig at The Warehouse Next Door in DC. Playing a gig is always exciting.
Exercise. Maybe get together with a friend and watch an episode or two of Firefly with commentary on. I might, if I am feeling particularly edgy and adventurous, eat at Taco Bell for lunch. Stand back people! I’m dangerous today!
This evening I am going to see a tribute band at the Halfmoon in Putney. Called The Jamm. After my favourite Mod-style band The Jam, who were quite popular over here from 1977-1982 but didn’t really make much of an impact across the Atlantic. You may have heard of the lead singer, Paul Weller, who has gone on to other things.
The Jamm does a very faithful rendition of The Jam’s repertoire and the lead singer is a dead ringer for Paul Weller. If I get out without any major injury, I will be pleased.
Wow. I’m a huge Jam fan and I’ve heard of The Jamm. Isn’t that the one that Rick Buckler sat in with/hung out with or something?
(BTW, I too, play Rickenbacker 330s)
The thing that generates the most excitement for me? My daily 30 mile commute into and out of Queens. I managed to hit a hundred and thirty miles an hour for a good ten seconds.
Uhhh… hmm. Leave work early, at lunchtime, that’s pretty nice. Have some KFC for lunch - also good. Engage in a little City of Heroes. Prepare for the Champions game I’m running this evening, then actually run it. Might try to place an extremely long distance phonecall to a travelling friend - not sure about that one.
Yes indeed. Mr Buckler was the drummer. When The Jam split up, he decided he couldn’t bear to be in any other band so he turned his hand to woodwork and is now a professional furniture restorer. The bass player, Bruce Foxton, plays with Stiff Little Fingers. I met him in 1998 in a tiny village in Cornwall: a really nice bloke. And Weller continues to annoy…
Oh, I knew Buckler was the Jam’s drummer, plus he played with Time UK shortly after the Jam. (BTW, he has a website here I was asking if The Jamm were the one he had “endorsed” or hung out with, etc.
Actually, I think I answered my own question when I looked on The Jamm’s website. They were the one.
