My point is that if you want to persuade other people to believe your stories, then you need to provide evidence. That the JWs began believing in an imminent Last Days, (revised regulalry as the various dates pass without event), simply adds them to a long list of other people who have chosen to believe the same things; it does not make them part of some vast conspiracy.
As to an imminent WWIII: with the collape of the Soviet Union, that has been pushed back to some future date. The Russians realize that war will destroy them. The Chinese are basking in their newfound prosperity and realize that war will destroy it. The various fragmented Islamist groups do not have control over any nation strong enough to engage in a “world war.” We are certainly not going to go picking a figt with any coalition of nations. For the foreseeable future, wars are going to go back to being local conflagrations, occasionally as proxies for greater powers, but never involving an actual world wide conflict. Any other scenario is simply preposterous and, if you really think that something like that will happen, you need to provide evidence that there are preparations or even reasons for it to happen.
Now if you had chosen to criticize the Jehovah’s Witnesses for discouraging young people from going to college, and for also pounding it into their children’s heads that the end of the world is coming any day now, so all personal ambition is futile, thus nearly guaranteeing a life filled with menial labor, you might have a valid point.

As an example, I have a brother. He got married ten years ago.
Granted, I live on the opposite coast, but I don’t feel any particular loyalty to her side of the family. (I don’t wish them harm, either.) They are essentially strangers to me.
If she were the daughter of one of these “families”, how do they ensure that my brother toe’s the line? How is he somehow conviced to adopt this grand vision of world destruction and domination, so much so that he abandons his own goals? How is he supposed to be convinced to NOT let his kids chase their own dreams, but brainwash them into a plan hatched by someone they don’t know, a couple hundred years before they were born?
It seems to me, eventually, the follow-on generations will abandon any Grand Plan, and chase their own goals. (Especially if they believe that the Grand Plan may still be generations away from fruition.)
Heck, my family can’t agree on the best way to BBQ a steak. How are they supposed to work together in manipulating world governments?

How much do you* know* about Syrian politics and history? How much do you know about East/West relations and what is the root cause of the tension between them? How do you get your information? Couple of hours of approved news per week? Perhaps the newspaper of your choice or discussions on normal websites with rational people of your particular persuasion.
