I find pictures of carvings on them and mentions of eating them. I however can’t find out what size they are.
What size are the nuts in the shell?
What do they taste like if you tried them?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baobab
The page says the fruits are 18cm long.
I bought a pile of baob fruit once, but it was too hard for me to open!
I have eaten boab (adansonia gregorii) seed pulp. The seed is a bit bigger than a closed fist. Picked up of the ground under the tree you can hear the dry pithy centre rattle around when shaken.
The pithy centre tastes like a bland, acidic, papery mass of foam. A bit like a flavourless conglomerate of sherbet, from memory. However it is not unpleasant. Apparently it is a good source of vitamin C.
Now we know why it’s not a big export.
Thanks for the answers everyone.
