Googling “mickey toni basil are the cheerleaders in drag” gives a link to a 2004 thread here on the SDMB. 
I find no corroborated evidence that they are men in drag (though some of them do look husky), and a lot of cites that they were from a high school cheerleader squad in southern California. Do you have a cite other than your eyes?
