What is there to do in Dallas on New Year's Eve?

My lifelong best friend is coming down from Connecticut to visit me - with her new husband, as she’s getting married on the 28th and coming down here in lieu of a honeymoon. We haven’t seen each other for more than a few hours at a time since we were in high school in '01, and I’ve never met her groom-to-be before, so I want to show them a good time while they’re visiting - but keep in mind we are all relatively poor. Not flat broke, obviously, as they can afford a cross-country road trip, but we can’t go to Ruth’s Chris or a place with a $20 cover charge or $15 martinis or anything like that.

But. Since she’ll be here for New Year’s Eve, and this is the year we both turned 21, and we are from a podunk town in New York State, we would like to go out somewhere, maybe have a drink or two, and soak up some city lights.

I’m new to the area and don’t know where would be appropriate. I turn to you guys for suggestions.

There will be four people total - her and her husband, and me and Gunslinger.
