This is a screencap from an episode of Dexter that I was watching last night. What is the big spherical structure? I tried Googling everything I could think of—‘big ball miami,’ ‘miami architecture,’ ‘spherical building miami’ and came up with nada. What the hell is it?
The Miami Skylift, a hot air balloon ride. Though it looks like it’s now closed.

To nitpick, it’s a helium balloon, not a hot-air balloon. I’ve been up in a couple of these type of things (not the Miami one) and always wondered how high you’d go if the cable broke… or do they have some kind of valve system to get you back to earth?
