What is this cooking tool and where can I get one?

It is made from a flat piece of stainless steel, approximately 6 inches by 8 inches. One long side is rolled once to provide a handle. It is used to scrape up chopped onions, celery, etc. from the chopping block. I have looked in Crate & Barrel catalog, but no luck. Any help is welcome.

Is it this

Here you go. I found it by Googling “steel scraper” – there were lots of other links if you want to buy one somewhere else.

Sort of like this: http://www.cateringstuff.co.uk/catalog/56120.htm ?

It’s a dough scraper. Extremely useful if you’re making bread, but has many other uses, as you’ve found.

Actually, Crate & Barrel has one also: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/store/search_products.asp?query=scraper&index=&category=&ref=1&image_id=10578&Nao=0

I’ve tried the one’s with the rolled handle. Slippery. My reccommendation:

You’ll want 2 or 3. The kind you ask about are available too. Just search “board scraper” or “bench knife”.

Thanks everyone. You found it for me and I’ve ordered it.

Don’t forget Alton Brown’s (Good Eats) favorite use for it. Garlic peeler/smasher!

Yes, but it’s much too small to really use. Well, unless you’re only six years old, I suppose.

Ya need one ya can really grab onta!
