What is this song? (Audio clip included.)

Several years ago I heard a song on the local college rock station, which mostly plays obscure music. To this day, I remember only the melody of it, no lyrics. But I remember the melody so vividly and clearly that I was able to play it on the guitar. Forgive the out of tune guitar, it was done hastily.

The song is very reverb-y and I tried to manipulate the audio file to replicate that sound. There is some vocal harmony at the beginning of the song, with low and soft voices.

The tempo of the melody in the audio clip is as it was when I heard it in the song. Same slow pace.

There are two parts that I remember and recorded: the opening of the song, which is what you will first hear on the clip and is very reverb-y, and then a guitar solo (which, in the song, is played on a distorted electric guitar) which comprises the second part of the clip.

The clip.

I would venture that it was recorded by a relatively obscure and indie “art” rock group like Grizzly Bear, within the past 5 years, from the sound of it.

Major gratitude for anyone who can figure this out. Thanks.

Access Denied!

It won’t open for me.

I am sorry about that - it was set to private. I just set it to public. Try it again.

I listened, and have no clue. Sorry!

(I’m bumping this for you.)

If you want to download it, http://musicbrainz.org/ might be able to identify it.

It sounds like Stephen Foster’s Beautiful Dreamer there at the end … but otherwise, I got nuttin.’

I tried using Shazam, but it didn’t work because it’s not a studio recording.

That was my thought, too. Here’s Bing Crosby’s version of Beautiful Dreamer

The solo part sounds like I’ll Take Manhattan to me. And what’s that in the background? Sounds like someone’s taking a shower or frying up some dinner.

I used the Sound Hound App on iPhone & it came up with nothing for the first part and “Ma Cherie” by Malice Mizer or “How Men Are” by Aztec Camera for the second half.

From your description, I don’t think either one fits.

That would be Rio, by Duran Duran.

Hey, it was my turn to say it!

This is really annoying, because it’s familiar.
