Nurse! The mind-bleach!
My wife had a port after she had cancer. It was definitely convenient during chemo, etc., but it was also a bit of a pain in the ass. It was always an infection risk, had to be regularly flushed, etc. I can see Trump saying, “Fuck that, gimme an IV once a month.”
My late wife had one too. IIRC the flushing was needed monthly, so it wasn’t really an extra maintenance burden for somebody getting IVs monthly or more frequently. For sure infection risk is there every time the skin is punctured. And that risk is a much bigger deal for cancer patients on meds which often are immunosuppressive, compared to somebody on meds for Alzheimer’s.
To be clear, I’m not advocating ports for everybody / anybody who needs regular (or irregular) IVs. But for somebody from the cost is no object side of the tracks for whom vanity, vanity, and vanity are the Big 3 motivators in his life, being able to receive meds without telltale bruising seems a slam dunk.
Oh, I agree. I’m just speculating that Trump would be a big baby about it. “You’re not putting that in my chest!”
My spouse had cancer treatment, and acquired sepsis as a result of some issue with either the IV or his port. He was very very sick, but recovered. Yes, immunosuppressed people often get things that those with normal and strong immune systems do not get. Is Trump in that category? Well, we shall never know…
Here’s one physical therapist’s take:
I think his vanity is what would prevent him from getting a port. True, it might not be visible to the cameras but he’ll still know it’s there. And it would be an explicit reminder of his failing health. If he just does IVs he can pretend some day he’ll get better. A port seems more permanent and indicates he is never going to get better.
Bruising can also be a result of taking blood thinners.
I know somebody (heart attack survivor) who has been taking blood thinners for years. If his hands or arms experience almost any physical contact with a hard surface, it leaves a bruise which lasts for days.
Something which most of us would ignore as a very light bump causes him pain, and leaves a bruise.
(ex: a cell phone is resting on a table, gets knocked off, and you reach out to grab it before it hits the floor. But you miss, and the phone bounces off your arm as it falls. Result for him: an ugly bruise.)
Agree blood thinners lead to easy bruising.
Idjit trump keeps getting bruised in the same place over and over on a very regular schedule. Could blood thinners be exacerbating the scope of these bruises? Sure. Is he repeatedly bumping his hand on something the same way monthly? We can’t say that’s impossible, but compared to the other explanations it’s one of the least likely.
If the bruise/discoloration is from a needle, why not switch to the other, non-dominant hand? Or higher up his arm? There’s no reason any infusion can’t be given in a less visible area.
I’m voting bruise/discoloration that won’t heal. Trump’s too vain to allow his hand to be repeatedly bruised where the entire world sees it (a sign of weakness).
Malignant narcissism
Low IQ (Not an insult, just an observation)
Heart failure (the bruises on his hands are from emergency IV diuretics and blood thinners)
Had a stroke around labor day on the left side of his brain
Dementia
Installing a port would require, at the very least, local anesthesia.
However, it would also require Trump to sit still and keep his mouth shut for an entire hour or so, and I’m not sure he’s capable of that, so he’d probably need general.
And that would require letting JD be in charge for an hour, which Trump would NEVER agree to.
So an IV in the back of the hand for grandpa’s dementia meds it is.
Now that’s some impeccable logic. Point made.
True. But if he starts exhibiting bruising on the back of his left hand, the excuse that it’s from hand-shaking is less viable.
There’s often a preference for using dorsal hand veins initially for IV access if they’re sizable enough and easy to access, and to “save” more proximal veins like in the arm (antecubital fossa) for blood draws i.e. for lab work, and potential catheterization.
Yep, I’m not saying it’s from shaking hands. I highly doubt it is. But whatever caused it, the discoloration from senile purpura can last for a very long time after it’s healed.
The bruises often heal by themselves in a few weeks but can leave lasting patches of discoloration on the skin.
I haven’t seen any photos where his hand isn’t discolored. It’s either been bandaged or has obvious, heavy concealer on it.
The guy’s right-handed. Why would his docs continue using his right (dominant) hand if he were undergoing regular treatment, particularly since he has to shake hands with people? Why would he allow them to use that hand, especially since all eyes are on it?
'Cause he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sharp as a marble. And apparently his doctors don’t give a shit.
Or maybe they have also been using his left hand, and it’s even worse.
As Trump’s lead physician appears as fawningly subservient as the rest of his inner circle, official pronouncements on his wonderful perfect health are highly suspect.
When are we going to hear some accurate details of what exactly has been going on with Trump’s health?
- A whistleblower who talks to a newspaper (and has the receipts)? I’m thinking a modern day Deep Throat
- When a D is in the Whitehouse?
- Congressional subpoena?
- After Trump’s death and a respectful period?
- Never?
His left hand is fully visible in photographs and video. There’s no bruise.
This one, though I suspect the length of the “respectful period” will depend on who is in the White House and, if Vance, what his agenda is for a post-Trump world.
