What is your favorite color?

Red and Black. And it has to be together. I love both colors equally, but I must have them together, neither is good without the other.

Hey, I just noticed that the little colored bars in the poll match their labels. Cool. (ETA: Insofar as is possible.)

Probably not the same shade or styles, but I would most likely still have at least some green. For example, we have been in our current house for about 15 years, and I’m replacing some of the furniture that we bought when we moved in. Instead of a deep green plaid we will have a solid light green. If I could afford to remodel the kitchen I’d probably get rid of the green Formica and get some sort of a solid surface in a dark green. I’d love to have a greenish soapstone. In the bedroom I changed from a teal-green carpet and white walls to an off-white carpet with light mossy-green walls.

Yellow. My favorite color choice does depend on context, but in general a warm sunny yellow does it for me.

I voted for orange. It’s the color of warmth – campfires, sunsets. And gold (although gold is maybe more yellow).

I also like orange because it’s kind of a weird color to have as your favorite.

Yellow. Black would be second, but isn’t on the poll.

As for my username, I love the word “indigo”, and I love the title of that jazz composition-- though I don’t particularly love the actual tune or the song.

I’m a bumblebee soul camouflaged in indigo, I guess.

Black, which wasn’t on the durn list…

I’m only the second person to choose brown, and the other one hasn’t posted to this thread yet.

I love brown in all its shades: tan, chocolate, etc. Years ago I saw an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy where they did the guy’s apartment entirely in shades of brown, and I almost died just seeing it on TV. I appreciate all of the earth tones, but brown is the best.

My current car is dark gray, because I like black/gray for cars. And many of the automakers who offer brown don’t do a good job with it. :frowning: I did once see a Mini Cooper that was the most awesome shade of deep, sparkly brown – closest I’ve ever come to wanting a Mini!

I love orange. An orange-ish yellow can be good too.

My desktop is orange, the websites I design use various orange hues, some of my very fav clothes are bright orange, my fav room in the house has an orange wall.

For me it’s a really cheerful color, full of life, makes me feel all warm and happy inside.

It hasn’t always been like that though, only for the last, say, ten years or so.

Lazz, I’ve been pestering my husband to let me paint our living room orange. We watch all those home decorating shows and I’ve noticed that the orange rooms are almost always smashing.

Only problem is, around these parts, orange is so closely associated with the damn football team. :frowning:

My favorite colors are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.

Dark green, like moss green or pine green.

Cyan rules! You can’t spell CMYK without Cyan!

black.

after all, it’s the combination of all colors (in painting). or the absence of all colors (in lighting).

I love 'em all for all the reasons expressed in this thread. Colors are so… colorful!

Being a bit of a tree hugger, a nice pine green was considered my favorite.

Then…

I had to sell my car about a year ago (couldn’t afford payments/not enough charging stations in my new work locale) and became obsessed with blue cars. Never cared before (previous cars: red, copper, burgundy, silver), and at first it was just a case that blue cars would catch my eye while I was driving. “Hmm, that’s a nice shade of blue; I really like that blue car. Interesting.”

But pretty soon, no matter how hard I tried to convince myself color didn’t matter, I just couldn’t pull the trigger on a non-blue car. And the more I shopped, the more precise that shade of blue had to be: halfway between midnight and royal blue with just a touch of electricity – that was that perfect blue. Sorta like Dodger blue but not exactly. I took to rating all the cars I saw (in person & online) each on a scale of 1-100 on how close they were to that ideal blue. (Anything a 93 or above was acceptable, so long as it was a post-2000 Japanese compact four-dour automatic with fewer than 70K miles, clean interior and minimal exterior wear… under $7,000.)

Of course, I also had to sell my car – and did. But I couldn’t find that damn blue car. Moonwife: “Honey, you have to pick out a car!” Moonbosses: “I don’t care about the bus schedule; you need to be here on time.” Went like this for three months. :frowning: I did learn to appreciate the bus, though.

I finally found it: about a 96 on a scale of 1-100. Now I don’t care as much about blue cars, just a mild appreciation.

But blue is now my favorite color. And I found this blue binder clip in my desk drawer that is just unspeakably beautiful

Purple for me. The day I was born, my father bought me a stuffed toy of a purple dog. I still have it!! Also, my hometown (and favorite) NBA team, Los Angeles Lakers, features purple. Oh yes, and in one of my favorite sites, SD, the color purple features prominently.

I like neutrals and gray is my very favorite.

Blue.

The last car I owned was blue, officially named “blue-black” by the dealership. I thought it was soooooo cool that this shade of blue was so dark it looked black. I always thought it was the color of outer space (quite apropos for a Saturn). Some friends of mine have said it was green, but I always thought that was a combo of the light at night and the beer talking.

Red and black together are great! I use them together whenever I can. Depending upon the shapes and mix of the colors, you can create some pretty good moods with them (or intimidate your foes).

Also, purple is cool, if you can pull it off in the right way. I used to have 2 purple shirts. One would receive lots of compliments from the ladies (and stray looks from the guys like ‘wow, I wish I had a shirt like that’). The other shirt used to draw similar looks, but at least most folks were polite enough to try to turn the corner before they burst out in laughter.

The deep blue sky on an October day. Silvery gray. Spring green.

I avoid red and orange like a vampire confronted with a cross.
