What is your favorite flavor of chocolate?

Colour me surprised by the amount of people who love dark chocolate. To me, it’s the Judas Iscariot of the chocolate world. Looks very inviting and tasty, but once you commit…too bitter, too sharp, too tart.

Milk on the other hand, delicious and creamy. Great taste and texture.

White…eh, I don’t mind it, but if it’s complementing its milky pseudocousin it can be quite nice. On its own, can be a bit sickly-sweet.

Mmmmm…White Chocolate for Idiots.

Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.

Guess I’m an idiot. But you know what? If you don’t like the stuff, more white chocolate for me! I don’t like dark chocolate at all and won’t eat the stuff - too bitter for my tastes. “Sweet tooth” means just that.

This from a girl who knows how to celebrate a birthday in style. Do you like those white chocolate covered pretzels with the Christmas sprinkles on them? I love them but more than about four and I get a stomach ache.

Chocolate is meant to be a sweet treat. If I wanted something bitter like dark chocolate, I’d find something that was healthier! Milk chocolate all the way!

I prefer Ghirardelli* 60% dark chocolate. A little sweeter than most dark chocolates, but still far more chocolate than any milk chocolate.

*and to show just how much I like it, I was able to spell the name without looking at the package.

I love 90%, and I’m developing a taste for 99%. Anything under 85% now seems too sweet to me. White chocolate is another story. Good white chocolate is heavenly, but it’s rare to find good white. I had white chocolate with almonds from Astorga recently, and it was quite good.

Dark, but white does have its place. White chocolate mocha!

White chocolate doesn’t actively taste BAD like, uh, soap or something would… but it’s not a flavor that I’d ever eat on purpose or seek out. If I had a handful of candy and some of them were white chocolate I’d either give them away or throw them in the trash sooner than I’d eat them.

I like dark chocolate but not too dark. Milk chocolate is also good.

Hershey kisses. love them

Lindt 85 for me. Just sweet enough but still very low-carb (I’m T2D so that matters).

Yes, I’ve tried Lindt 90 and even 99 once. The 90 had a certain Oreo-like afterglow; the 99 just tasted burnt.

Any chocolate that doesn’t have that sour “Hershey” aftertaste is okay in my book.

What, no option for caramel chocolate?

there’s “white chocolate” and then there’s “white confection.” white confection is usually made with hydrogenated oils and has very little flavor other than SWEET. good white chocolate, on the other hand, is amazing. i encourage any of you who’ve declared war on white chocolate to try Green&Black’s Organic White… unbelievably tasty!

Dark chocolate only, please. Unless it’s a Reese’s. Those must be milk chocolate. And I’ll have my dark chocolate with sea salt, caramel or filled with flavored cream, please.
::drool::

Lindt dark, the bar with the white wrapper and no percentage. I’m having trouble finding it these days. The 70% is OK, but stronger than I like so I guess bar with the plain white wrapper has less than that. I also like the Lindt dark with hazelnuts.

I wonder how many people who dislike dark chocolate have only had Hershey’s “Special Dark.” That stuff is awful, it tastes like malted milk balls. Hershey’s has a premium “Cacao Reserve” line that is decent.

I prefer dark chocolate but still like milk chocolate. I even like white chocolate. It’s chocolate; it’s all good.
