What is your favorite love story movie?

There is a lot of surrealism in L.A. Story but it doesn’t detract from the romance. I dont’ even mind Martin’s character having a side fling with Sarah Jessica Parker.

The only Adam Sandler movie I like. And Drew Barrymore…usually she’s adorable, but here she resets the scale completely. Wotta sweetie.

Big fan of Sleepless in Seattle. Though I will admit my fave scene is where, after the sister-in-law tearfully describes the plot of Affair to Remember, the guys riff on her by “tearfully” describing The Dirty Dozen:

“And-and then…Trini Lopez…”

“Trii-i-i-ini Lo-o-o-opez!”

Before Sunrise was what I came into say.

The Foot?!? ** Ew!**

Brief Encounter

Alan Rickman’s death reminded me of Truly, Madly, Deeply. I only saw it once, years ago but I remember liking it quite q bit.

12 Monkeys. It also doubles as a Christmas movie.

Down With Love. It makes me laugh. Moulin Rouge is interesting too.

5 Centimetres Per Second
The Garden of Words

“Alan Rickman’s death”? GAH! Found thread about it. Crap.

It’s a musical, but I’ve always found West Side Story incredibly moving.

When Harry Met Sally.

Overboard.

That’s about it; not much of a fan of love stories, unless they’re embedded in a good science fiction or action movie.

Ooo! I get so mad when my action or sci-fi movie is interrupted by a romance! I want to start throwing things. More than once I have found myself yelling “The world’s at stake, you don’t have time to fuck!”

Fried Green Tomatoes. Idgy and Ruth are so very special together.

Dr. Zhivago - I think Omar Sharif’s big brown eyes have something to do with my choice. Also, the movie inspired me to learn a lot more about the Bolshevik revolution than I ever learned or remembered from high school.

In Dark of the Sun, Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux get it on after having been on the run from revolutionaries in Africa for three or four days. (The same thing happened in the novel it was based on; after the sex, she went to wash up in a rain puddle.)

EW! Hygiene, people???

John Mills and Sylvia Syms did the same thing in the middle of the Sahara in Ice Cold in Alex. Not even a rain puddle, there!

I love** Before Sunrise** except for this. Putting your face in the crotch of someone who has been riding the train for days? Nah.

That doesn’t bother me as much…three or four days is nothing. But the total and complete lack of condoms bothers me and I think contributes to people getting pregnant without forethought. Would it really ruin the mood so much if there was a quick scene of people using condoms? I would never never never never never sleep with any strangers, no matter if it was Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig or Jude Law, without a condom.

Yeah… I’d definitely want my partner to wash up in a puddle **before **the sex! :o

When you’re on the run from Nazis or the Mau-Mau, I guess that kind of moves to the back of your mind.

Get it on now, since you might die anytime in the next few minutes! :frowning:

Three or four days is nothing?!? Yeeeeeeech!!!

It’s not my preference, certainly, but I get it - when death is near, you want to celebrate life, preferably by fucking the nearest person. And I wouldn’t really want to engage in any oral sex at the moment, but humans have been having sex without bathing for centuries, and I might want the closeness of our bodies. But even then I STILL want him to use a condom!
