What is your favorite series of Geico commercials?

Who is Mr. Deadpan Guy?

Not a Geico commercial, but I like the fake Esurance commercial on Robot Chicken where Erin Esurance won’t rescue some dude until after he gets shot four times because of his “four bullet deductible”.

I HATE the whiny cavemen. I don’t really like any of them, and I’ve never seen the deadpan guy series.

I too mostly just liked the Tiny House commercial.

I picked the gecko, because it follows the first rule of advertising: Make sure the viewer knows what product or service the ad is associated with. It does no good if the guys around the water cooler are saying “I saw this hilarious commercial last night, with these cavemen” “What was it for?” “I dunno, some insurance company, I didn’t catch which one”. But with the gecko, the connection is obvious.

I also like the Aflac duck for the same reason.

Unless there’s another one, this one comes close:

Too Tall

And there are several with the same guy doing an impression of somebody like Robert Stack or somebody else.

The guy is Mike McGlone and he’s had over 20 credited roles on IMDB. I saw his second such role in The Brothers McMullen (1995) and if he had made it a little bigger I might want to mention him in one of the recent threads on “I knew him/her when.”

Huh. I’ve never seen those Deadpan Guy commercials. Okay, well he’s the least annoying, but maybe I wouldn’t think that if I’d seen 100,000,000 versions of those commercials 100,000,000 times like the others.

What about the “I Have Good News” campaign? Remember the rapper Jiggy Fly?

“On and on and on and on.”

The scene: Baseball commissioner Bud Selig’s office.

Pete Rose enters.

Selig: Pete, have a seat, have a seat. Now, I suppose you’re wondering why I asked you to come to my office. Well, I have some good news.

Rose: You’re reinstating me into Major League Baseball? I’m eligible for the Hall of Fame now?

Selig: No, no. I just saved 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico!

2004 AFLAC commercial with the Looney Tunes:

That was not awesome.

(actualy it was)

My absolute favorite is where Les Stroud is wandering through the forest, and he’s talking about how to test for poisonous berries. He has some in his mouth and is talking about bad ones can cause fevers, diarrhea and hallucinations. Then he sees the gecko practicing his lines and start spitting the berries out.

I laugh every time.

OMG. One of the greatest commercials ever.

And that girl is scrumptious.
