What Is Your Favorite Subway Sandwich?

I had one in February in the DC area, I noticed they had dropped the word crab from the name, but it was the same thing. I probably hadn’t eaten in a subway in about 3 years, so I don’t know if that is a new development.

I don’t go to Subway often, as I can get a larger and better sandwich elsewhere, but when I do go there, I get turkey and provonone, on 12 grain honey oat bread, with lettuce, onions, and green peppers.

My absolute favorite is the chicken breast with some of the meatball sauce on it, toasted. But this seems to confuse some of the Subway lackeys. My backup is the Chicken Bacon Ranch, and my vegetables on any sandwich is always the same - anything you can fit on there besides banana peppers, honey oat bread, and pepper-jack cheese on anything except for the sweet onion chicken teriyaki sandwich.

Spicy Italian, on regular bread, with cheese, onion, green pepper, olives, heavy pickles, and heavy red wine vinegar.

I used to always get the chicken teriyaki, but the aftertaste was just getting to be too much to handle. Mine is now just a regular turkey with L, T, O, oil, and vinegar.

BMT, all the way. Double meat if I’m really hungry. Little lettuce, little onion, little tomato, pickles, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar.

I’m hungry now.

On a side note, several years ago (like 20), I went into a Subway near the University of Oregon campus in Eugene to order a BMT. I got curious and asked the clerk what BMT stood for. He looked around nervously and replied:
“It stands for Boston Mass Transit, but we call it the Big Meat Thang.” Cracked my semi-drunk ass up.
I shall always know it as the Big Meat Thang.

I love Subway, but I tend to always order the same thing. 6" Turkey on Italian Herb and Cheese with swiss cheese, spinach, tomatoes, maybe cucumbers and cilantro, maybe some spicy mustard.

toasted meatball sub on whole wheat with provolone and green peppers

For years I always got the same thing:

turkey on white bread NO CHEESE (I do not enjoy cold cheese…blech) with tomatoes and extra pickles with salt and pepper. I have gotten many a strange look from subway staff due to the no cheese clause and the fact that I do not want any mayo/mustard/oil, etc.

In the past few years I’ve tried to broaden my horizons since they are a semi- healthy alternative to burgers and fries. I also like:

-Chicken bacon ranch with tomatoes. That’s all. When I tried it with my normal large dose of pickles, the pickle + ranch dressing combo didn’t sit well.

-Sweet onion chicken teriyaki with tomatoes and cucumbers. (The pickles ruin the sweet onion taste.)

I like Quizno’s also but they are more expensive and less healthy to me.

What is this spinach that I keep hearing of? Never been to a subway with spinach… Must be a West Coast thing.

No, there’s spinach here in Ohio. I always get spinach.

Depending on my mood I get one of these

Carnivore Mood: Double Pastrami with provolone cheese, onions and mustard.

Fisherman Mood: Tuna with lettuce, tomato, onion, and both peppers.

Eating with a bunch of dieters: Veggie with feta cheese, avacado, and red wine vinagrette.

I’m not much of a veggie guy but that sandwhich is quite refreshing and good.

Oh and all subs must be eaten with Ms Vicks Jalapeno chips. Or at the very least, her BBQ chips.

Footlong BMT on Italian Herbs & Cheese or Honey Oat (depending on mood), with Swiss, spinach, onions, olives and Sweet Onion Sauce.

Spinach came to our local Subways 3 or 4 years ago. I loved it, don’t like lettuce that much. Then there was the Salmonella scare (which I informed the local Subway of), and they took it off the menu, and it hasn’t returned. I asked recently about why spinach never came back, one of the owners told me their insurance would have been way too expensive because of the previous spinach problems. I didn’t push them on the issue, like asking if they had checked back recently or looking for another insurance company.
Anyway, my general favorite is probably the Club (turkey, ham, roast beef) with tomatoes, pickles, olives, green peppers, and mayo.

I also like many of the others, I’d get Steak & Cheese if it wasn’t so darn expensive now.

I love the 6" Meatball Marinara with toasted cheese and jalapenos on an Italian cheese and herb roll. I could easily polish off a foot long one if placed in front of me.

Since I started caring about my weight I opt for the 6" Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki on a plain or wheat roll. With cucumber, lettuce and jalepenos. It’s 350 calories, 1.7g saturated fat as opposed to 580cal/13.0g.

Have not seen spinach in Bangkok Subway shops.

i’m from the east coast, Maryland, and now live in L.A. NOBODY

oops, what i meant to say is, NOBODY on the way here or in L.A. know what HOTS are! ya know, the little red crushed up seed things? please tell me someone on here is from M.D. and knows what i’m talking about…my whole office is waiting for proof…

Nope, dunno it.

I get the Seafood delight, toasted bread w/ provolone, spinach if I feel like it, add bacon, banana peppers, olive, onions, and chipotle sauce + Mustard.
Yeah, you can get the seafood delight crab thing in all the subways around here, but it might be a regional thing, as it’s always under our “Local Favorites” section.

I imagine that you’re talking about crushed red pepper. Next time you’re in a supermarket, wander on down to the spice/baking aisle, and see if they have some in a clear glass jar.

If you’re talking about the stuff that’s in shakers at the pizza parlor, then they’re definitely crushed red pepper.
