10
I was born on the tenth day of the tenth month at 10:25 and weight ten pounds ten onces.
You mean you were born on October 10th at 22:25 and weighed 4.8 kilograms?
Me, I’m not sure what my lucky number is. How can I find out?
256
It’s 2^8, 16^2, 4^4 and other stuff besides.
I don’t actually consider it lucky, but due to the interesting attributes mentioned, and that people hardly ever seem to have a lucky number above 13, that’s my answer when someone asks.
There aren’t any numbers that seem to crop up often in your daily life? 7 and 5 occur a lot in my own, especially together.
Not that I really believe in lucky numbers- I just wanted a poll.
Not exactly my lucky number, but I notice “ten four” in it’s various incarnations on an ongoing basis. I always find myself looking at a clock at either 10:04 or 1:04 sometime during the day. I’ll be reading some documentation and discover myself on chapter 10, page 4. I’ll notice that a folder has 104 files in it. When tax time comes, I need a ten four(ty).
Not actually mine, but they played out for me.
My business partner/friend has an eerie connection with 311. He notices it on the clock a lot. When he told me about it I noticed it more too. Our business credit card accounts, although they should have been sequential (so I thought)…mine ended in like 302 and his 311. Our other accounts (now defunct), my CVV2 code was 311.
I’d known about his lucky number. So I made a decision to play them in roulette in Vegas the one time I went. I sauntered up to a roulette table, watched a spin, then put my $5 each on 3, 11 and red (his recently deceased brother’s favorite color). It hit 3, which is red. I won a bunch of money (and then left the table.)
13
Born March (the month of Mars) 13th, at 12:47 (the ObGyn was about as tired of me as me of him, after a 24h delivery).
It was not a Tuesday (Martes, Mars-day, in Spanish it’s Tuesday 13th that’s considered unlucky because it’s a day for starting wars) but a Wednesday (Miércoles, Mercury-day). Mom has the theory that this is all that kept me from becoming a general. I have the idea that the Spanish Army’s notion that women my age weren’t fit to sign up may have had something to do with it, mind you.
An assigned computer password from when I was in 6th grade (and before you try it on anything like AIM or the SDMB or any other thing I may have mentioned that I’m a part of… No… I don’t use it as a password in any way).
I know the number squared by heart, as well as its square root to a good number of digets.
I was bored in middle school.
Take any 4 digit number in which the digits aren’t all the same (i.e. 2221 is OK but not 2222). Arrange its digits in ascending order and descending order. Subtract the smaller number from the larger (2221 - 1222 = 0999). Repeat this process, adding leading zeroes if necessary to keep the number 4 digits long. You *always *end up with 6174:
9990 - 0999 = 8991
9981 - 1899 = 8082
8820 - 0288 = 8532
8532 - 2358 = 6174
7641 - 1467 = 6174 and the sequence repeats.
I have used 6174 as a password / PIN number in the past (though not any more).
Oh man thats why I never hit it on the ruelet table.
I dunno. The first number to pop into my head when you asked was 7. But I’m not sure that I really have a “lucky” number. I think I read somewhere that if you asked a person to pick a number between 1 and 10 a huge percentage of us will pick 7, so maybe that is why I picked 7.
I don’t have a lucky number, either – no particular numbers have been significant in my life so far. I have always thought of “5” as my favorite number, though, because it’s in the middle (using our lovely decimal system) and I have always been middle-of-the-road politically, religiously, etc.
Mine would be 47. No real reason other than the fact that it seems to follow me around. I’ve actually convinced other people of this too.
Not a lucky number, but I’m partial to “six.” I like how it looks, both as a word and a number, and I simply adore it’s strength and symmetry on dice. I also like the sound of it. Six. Ssssssssixxxxxxx. Yeah. It’s a beauty.
I was born on the 27th of February. A couple of years ago I played in a poker tournament at a casino. My brother came to watch but when I was eliminated he was playing blackjack so I went off to play roulette. As soon as I sat down I realised that I had not interest in playing. I had a bet on 27 and up it came. I then bet on 2 and up it came. I pocketed all my winnings and left.
About a year later a group of us from work went out to the Sydney casino. If you join the members club you receive a discount card and a free $10 bet. I walked up to the roulette table and asked the croupier to place my bet on 27. After an appropriate amount of ridicule (“red or black is a 50/50 chance”) up came 27. I then told everyone at the table that 2 would be next. We all bet on it but it didn’t come up.
Both times I kept a $5 chip as a lucky charm. A few months back we returned to the Sydney casino and I felt lucky walking past a table and tried 27 but no luck. But that is my total betting career at roulette - 5 turns and I have picked the right number 3 times.
So obviously my lucky number is 19.
