Coat pockets change with the seasons. Right now I’ve got a NE Patriots Pat Patriot watch cap, a mess of batteries, random “important” papers (you know, the shopping list from last weekend) and the spare pack of cigs.

I carry a laptop bag with the laptop (duh) and charger, Blackberry cable, digital camera, ibuprofin, checkbook, a couple USB drives, and a mess of pencils.

I also do the check all pockets before locking the door thing. It’s always in the same order:
pat-cigs -check.
pat-phone -check
pat-change/lighter-check
pat-keys-check
pat-wallet-check.

And then, because I’m a weirdo, I have to check again.

Very rarely do I need to carry a bag with me. Generaly, everything I need fits on my person:

Watch on my wrist, Gloves on my hands…
Wallet in my back pocket. (Contains ID Card, Credit Card, 600 dollars cash [dont ask])
In my bottom left leg pocket is a C.A.T Tourniquet.
In my bottom right leg pocket is a VS-17 Panel and a 20 round Magazine.
In my right pants pocket is usually my hat.
In my upper right arm pocket is a waterproof note pad and pen.
In my left arm pen-holder is two Sharpie Markers.

Then of course is the rest of the crap:
IBA with front, back and side ESAPIs, and ACH; M-4 with ACOG, Surefire, PEQ15 and 20 round magazine; 10 more 30 round magazines; Gerber; Two Frag Grenades; 1 Surefire 6v Nitrolon; PVS-14s; Sony Digital Camera; Pocket Translation Book; MBITR Radio; Incendiary Grenade; 2-3 HC Smoke Grenades; First Aide Kit; And Mittens (I hate the cold)

Meh, that’s about it. I keep extra crap in a bag, but I dont carry that around with me.

Wallet, keys, phone. Nothing more.

Wallet in right-side back pocket. Keys in right side pocket. Phone in inside pocket of jacket. Always.

On days where I feel like smoking, I’ll have a bag of rolling tobacco and a pack of papers in the inside pocket of whatever jacket I happen to be wearing, and my Zippo in my left side pants pocket.

It mostly depends on whether it is the week or weekend, since during the week the only bag I carry is my school bag, but I transfer things to whichever one of my purses I happen to be closest to when I go out on the weekend.

School bag contains;
Clipboard with looseleaf and whatever course notes I haven’t organized yet
A varying collection of course notes (duo-tangs), textbooks and/or laptop as needed
iPod
ID/credit cards/Interac card/Health Card and whatever cash isn’t in my pockets
tampons and/or pads and/or pantyliners
chap stick
cell phone
bus/metro pass
calculator
pens, pencils, erasers, Sharpie, ruler
granola bar
hair clips or pins

My pockets usually contain:
Cash and coins
A hair elastic or six
random receipt from the last thing I bought
bobby pins or butterfly clip or whatever item of junk I just took away from the kitten
I will also often carry (usually in a purse) sunglasses, a deck of cards, makeup, my other mp3 player, ipod charger, random pens and hair attachers, business cards of people/stores I met/went to and recepits.

I am actually quite disorganised, purse and bag-wise.

Purse:
Wallet (cash, credit cards, driver’s license, check book)
Accessories bag (lip gloss, lip balm, lip stick, lip liner, pill box, glasses cloth, blotting tissues)
Sunglasses in glasses case
Card case, full of many cards
Cell phone
Pen
iPod Nano
Moleskine
Gum
Keys

Lunch box (work days):
Two or three pieces of fruit
A pudding cup or a yogurt cup
Spoon
Small container of skim milk for coffee

Gear bag (days when I have classes):
Gi
Belt
Anti-blister foot stuff
Hakama
Edged bokken
Waxwood bokken
Hip scarf (change of paradigm there!)
Anklets with bells
Medical tape and small scissors (why do I do everything barefoot?)
Ponytail holders

Female, massively unstylish, no cell phone, no iPod

On person:
[ul]
[li]Right front main pocket: Overstuffed wallet with keychain, cash, ID, ATM card, library cards, discount cards from various stores, lots of little pieces of paper with phone numbers on them, etc.[/li][li]Right front “ticket” pocket: list of mouse cages with sick mice that need to be checked / euthanized[/li][li]Left front pocket: extra hair elastic thingie, watch (I’m sensitive to nickel and too cheap to buy a watch in a non-allergenic metal, so I just carry the watch and don’t wear it)[/li][li]Left front beltloop: retractable lanyard with work ID and 3 different color-coded “emergency procedure” cards I am required to carry despite being utterly irrelevant to research personnel[/li][li]All other pockets: empty[/li][/ul]

Messenger bag:
[ul]
[li]Flap pocket: checkbook, pens, gum, lip balm, nail file, “feminine hygene” stash, important mail that needs to be dealt with, paperwork relating to the company that is suing me for non-payment on a credit card I never had, etc.[/li][li]Right front pocket: emergency 99-cent plastic poncho (for the summer, when I don’t carry a coat)[/li][li]Left front pocket: bus schedules (mostly out of date)[/li][li]Main compartment: book for the bus, newspapers I need to recycle, manuscript of a scientific article a friend asked me to read, snack-pack of peeled chestnuts (from the Korean grocery store near the bus stop)[/li][li]Inner zippered compartment: notes on interesting articles from early-20th-century magazines that I want to photocopy next time I’m in the Boston Public Library with $20 in small change (hobby-related, not part of my research  )[/li][li]Back compartment: umbrella, tissues, various bits of trash (gum wrappers, etc)[/li][/ul]

Geezus, you dudes really need to lose the baggage and learn to travel light you packrats.
Wallet in the back pocket and keys in the front. And your keys should be one car key and one house key on one ring. None of this janitor 100 key jumbo loop b.s.

The only thing I carry in my “man bag” are my testicles.

(man-bag indeed)

Well, let’s see, I’ve got one key for the front door to the apartment building, one key for my apartment proper, one key for the main lab, one key for the old lab room I sometimes need to get into, and one key for my PO box. Which ones should I get rid of?

Shirt Pocket: Cellphone, ball point pen
Pants Pockets:
Right front: Change, pocket knife (Uncle Henry, Staghorn handles, 3"Blade, 30+ years old)
Left front: keys
Right rear: handkerchief
Left rear: wallet

If I’m just stepping out on the weekend or for any reason other than work, I usually have a toddler in one arm, so the less I carry, the better: usually a wristlet that serves as my wallet and can also carry a lip gloss and a cell phone.

If I’m going to work, I carry a purse with above wallet, lip gloss, cell phone plus glasses, planner, small notebook and a small bag of makeup.
