Evening all. It’s Fall break here (school closes for a week) so I gave the kids Mon-Wed off from soccer practice and I’m just house-hanging. Nappage this afternoon, so will try to stay up late. It’s 68F outside and cloudy, if I could save this day for another two months…
FCM, we’ll see who wears out first…And good on ya for taking classes–I should, just too lazy.
Sari, kids do the same thing.
Butters, glad you survived the drive and Husband-unit is doing OK.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall lay in provisions, deal with [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties over to the church house, and make sup which shall be beef enchiladas, rice, and refried beans with fartfest to follow. OLÉ!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas, alack, and all sorts of bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.
I’m a bad girl: I haven’t started my new project yet and I’m already taking two days off (one for a highly-overdue doctor’s visit, one to travel back without trying to break every radar between my doctor’s office and the airport). Hopefully my new boss will be ok with that, considering I’m actually joining the team early…
As for the class, I’ve always wanted to learn sign language and this is the first time it’s being offered at the campus nearest me at a time the doesn’t interfere with work (which I won’t be doing this spring.) Roxy already knows a few signs - I bought her a baby sign language book, so she can ask for “more” and “eat”. I plan to teach her as I learn.
Meanwhile, today won’t get out of the 60s and I didn’t think to wear a sweater or hoodie. Luckily, it’s a quick dash from my car to the building, so I’ll survive. And it’s lots cooler now than it will be at quitting time.
It rained overnight so who knows when the rug will dry out.
It’s an 8x10 and it was dripping when I dragged it outside. I imagine it’s dripping even more now. I’d spread it out on the deck if my deck was higher off the ground and air could get under it. I supposed I could use the wet vac.
Well, I’d been wanting to pull up the rugs and clean under them. Just didn’t plan on it being like this.
On the agenda for today is laundry, a mess of towels that need to be washed.
I am ready to kill my son - I bought hand towels for the bathroom - and he pulled out the biggest, bulkiest, heaviest bath sheet to use to dry his hands.
We have had this discussion several times. I bought hand towels in a totally different color so they stand out and we don’t have to pick through the different towels to find them.
I can add straightening the linen closet to my list of things to do.
It’s overdue.
Guess I’d better get up and get moving, or nothing will get done.
I debating whether or not to take the dogs to day care. They already went Moonday, and they will be going again Firday, because I have to drive down to the armpit for a doctor appointment. Three days in one week is a lot, but having them gone makes it easier for me to get stuff done. I have some errands I need to run and they can’t go with me.
And it’s raining, so the dog park will not be so much fun. Yesterday only two other people showed up, and one didn’t stay long.
I lost 13 pounds after I got Ripple. A lot of getting up and down when there is a puppy in the house. Then I cut carbs and lost another 80 pounds.
I think I’ll just take them to daycare.
I have way too much to do around here. I need to figure out what to do with the kitchen floor while the rug is up. I’ll pull out the wood putty stuff and fill in the gouges.
Happy BatBoy Day!! I guess you’re officially an old geezer now!
I’ve been busy, but I’m having a tough time staying motivated. I’m just tired of doing all this stuff. 28 regularly scheduled work days till retirement… Yeah, I’m counting.
Happy Birthday BatBoy!
Pups are off at daycare.
The sun has come out, so I’m hoping the rug will dry out.
If not, my son can pull out the wet vac and do what he can.
Youngster! I have you beat by 7 years today. We have been in Ark mode for several hours, with flood alerts disturbing my sleep. The Northeast wind has the house moaning. I went on a diet destroying trip yesterday as a present to myself–Arby’s, Cinnabon and DQ–and to give the new car a trip, as the nearest Arby’s is a hour away.
I was also hunting apples, as this weekends mission will be applesauce. However, it seems the weather this year was not conductive to producing apples. Locally, when you can find any, a lunch bag sized bag of apples is going for 9 bucks. Methinks I’m going to the supermarket where they are 89 cents a pound. One orchard surprised me, they had these supersized apples that were grapefruit sized–at two for six bucks!
No, tho as she closes in on her Terrible Twos, she’s got a few listening issues…
We’d read that children learn signs before they’re verbal, so her parents picked out a few signs that have proven to be helpful. And since I’m a big advocate for knowing as many languages as possible, I intend to teach her signing as I learn it, and once she’s vocal, she’s going to learn a little French and a little Spanish, too.
