Getting ready for our trip to Buffalo and environs to go leaf peeping and visit the wife’s old haunts. We’re also going to swing by a couple of historical societies in northern PA to see what they have on my ancestors.
As for jobs at age 72: I can do most minor repairs, including electrical and plumbing and sheetrock. I can build a table or a flower box if I need it. I recently refinished our dining room table. We do a complete house cleaning twice a year, including the deck and porches. For things like painting, or major reno work, contractors get the call, and I do very little vehicle maintenance now, as there just isn’t much under the hood that you dare to touch.
We had all the grass removed, so no more mowing/edging. We have a guy who comes every other week to pull weeds and do general yard maintenance.

Well, we are officially homeowners again. The house closed and recorded moanday.
Wifey is driving me crazy planning what to take over there this weekend and what to do while we’re there.
I’m going to fix 3, maybe 4, gates and multiple holes in the fences, plus replace deck boards, this trip.
She has big plans.
I do too, but I’m more of a ‘work at one thing at a time’ person. She wants it all to happen at once.
As for hiring things out, I’m all for it. I can still do most everything I used to do, including building houses, but it takes me a terrible long time to do them, so we let other people do them.
Speaking of which, I need to get dressed and go build a gate.
Worked, had fun actually, and came home almost feeling guilty about it.
Not that guilty though.
Howdy Y’all! I completed chores, laid in provisions, went through the junk drawer in the kitchen and, actually threw out some stuff from the drawer. Also sup got cooked and et.
Bumba congrats on the new digs bein’ official!
And now this…

You don’t really have to put on clothes to build the gate.

sari, do you and your son share a bathroom? If not, perhaps he can be responsible for washing his own towels.
Happy birthday Bat Boy!
Happy birthday alien!
Irked, came home, et, now for chillage.
Happy birthday Alien.
Came home to a thunderstorm sitting right over my hood. I discovered that Buddy Boy is skeered of thunder. Poor thing. He also would rather play with a knotted sock than his toys that I have spent a small fortune on.
Nighttime Blurf.
Evening all. Another nothing-much day, did some soccer stuff (but no practicing), short nappage and watched a little baseball. Got out for a bit this evening and stopped at Publix for Pepsi. Didn’t really need it, but they had a “buy 2, get 2 free” deal on 12 packs and for what amounts to $0.25 per can it’s a deal that I can’t pass up.
Congratulations, Bumba, on the house. Enjoy the work…
All y’all have a good night now.
Happy Birthday Alien!
Today turned into a pretty day, N.O.S. and 70 degrees.
The big rug is almost dry. If tomorrow is nice as predicted, then it should be totally dry.
I didn’t get as much done today as I had hoped.
Red - I think getting my son to wash his own towels is a good idea. As far as sharing, I only use the upstairs bathroom for showers, or if I have to get up in the middle of the night. He never uses the powder room downstairs. He doesn’t seem to mind running up and down the stairs all day.
Congrats Bumba, happy hammering, or whatever you do to make a gate.
Cuddles to Buddy. I hope that he grows out of his fear. Nelson has, so there’s hope. ![]()
Everything I can!
Have to draw the line at electrical stuff.
A nice customer of mine gave me a pressure washer. That needs done at least annually.
It’s not as powerful as my friend’s I used to borrow, but it’s mine, and it does a good job, and there’s not all that recoil. It may take a bit longer, but I like pressure washing anyways, it’s relaxing.
The wand can be operated with 1 hand.
Cleaned the bathroom, kitchen, dusted, vacuumed, cleaned the cat hornk out of the sunroom ,and walked Gordie a bit. I had the windows open, so Gordie spent the day violently warning the neighbors about the peril of the Invisible Mole People.

Good luck on the home, Bumba.
Had an adventure last night on our usual walk aunt decided to stop at the dive near by …since shd didnt get her usual drink she gets once a week…she had her shot of jack and coors
As we were almost out of there my dear sweet cousin called bitching about something and just pissed her off to no end so she slammed down another of each and was blitzed…took 3 hours at dennys before she could walk home and i had to help…
So other than fighting off a cold such has been my life…
Welcome M&M. This is your nickname until someone comes up with a better idea. Pressure washing give immediate satisfaction.

Forty two more working days at my current job. Job hunting is on hold until 10/21, when we can find out who the new operator of the cafe will be, and whether or not we will be wanted. I’m majorly depressed right now. The house is a mess, I can’t make myself do anything about it. One of the only things that is keeping me going is looking after my mom. I can’t look down in front of her. Oh, and my dog. As my sig says, at least he loves me. I might go further down without him.
Well, we love you too, Cupcakes. {{{{hugs}}}}}
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out (will there be an iceberg in the cee-mint pond?) and clear with a predicted high of ONLY 87 and N.O.S. for the day. Today I deal with gettin’ an estimate on replacin’ a HVAC unit at the church house. Rah. I get to go there to meet the folks. I need the estimate by Moanday so’s I can bring it and another one to the Vestry for a decision as to what to do. Envy my life! We shall break the fast for sup tonight with ham ‘n cheese omelets, grits, and bizkits. Just in the mood for breakin’ the fast foodstuffs, plus, relatively easy.
{{{CupCakes}}} like doggio said, we love ya! I can’t imagine why the new owners wouldn’t want to keep an experienced baker.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, alas, alack, bother of bothers, I must purtify and once again don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Le sigh.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
