What keeps you coming back for more?

What draws you to the SD community? A sense of belonging? A place to share your problems, as well as your accomplishments? A source of generally well informed advice? Intellectual curiosity? A spot where you can rant and rave? All or none of the above?

All of the above, plus, a place to be playful and meet new friends.

The chicks.

I have to admit, I like it when someone asks I question I know the answer to. Of course, if I only posted in those GQ threads, my post count would be about a tenth of what it is. The rest of it is just like having a fun, interesting conversation with a wide variety of people. It’s enjoyable.

The intellectual level of the posters. Other chat rooms and message boards that I have encountered have been sorely lacking in intelligent, witty conversation.

The really, really cool people.

The flirting.

I have to agree with KimKatt. The time I now spend on SMDB, I used to spend wandering through Usenet, shaking my head.

Of course, I used to only spend 10 minutes or so on Usenet, and then go back to work. Now…

The laughter, the kindness, the advice, the sharing, the intellect, the friendships and, of course, the flirting.

Gotta go with the sex, and hot chicks…booze is nice too.

Connection is slow today. Damn double posts. So sorry

All the people here are wicked cool and its always interesting (even on slow days… are there slow days?) Its lots of fun. (Almost as much as rping)

Coldfire says he’ll slaughter a goat if I don’t keep posting. That’s a lot of pressure to live under.

I come for the sun, and stay for the exercise.

I agree with KimKatt – other chat rooms left me really disappointed in humanity in general. I also hate the whole IM thing. If I wanted to speak with you directly, I’d call you!

I like the anonymity that comes from just posting something and seeing what result comes of it – juxtaposed with the sense of community I feel with the other posters.

I’ve been recommending the SD site to friends for a while now – and I got sucked into it for a couple reasons: I’m big on trivia and I’m big on having a place to look up answers to the bizarre questions that come to mind from time to time.

I think SD posters offer a diverse and unique internet “community” – veyr intelligent and generally fair. We’re also quick to flame the idiots and ban them… but you really have to be obnoxious and irritating for that to happen, IMHO.

Now that I’ve posted a few things and started a thread of my own, I keep coming back to see if I’ve been quoted yet! (Does anyone out there think I’ve said anything important enough to quote me?) It’s happened, but I really haven’t contributed anything earth-shattering yet… so I’ll keep coming back until I’m intellectually embarassed and too humiliated to show myself!

Cool, intelligent, funny people willing to share knowledge and offer friendly debates.

One more agreeing with KimKat. I’ve been around a lot of MB’s (addicted to them), but invariably it’s not long before I start grumbling about the idiot mentality of the other posters.

This place has a lot of smart, witty people.

I like how anal everyone is about grammar.

Everything omni-not said.

I have connected with so many people here, I no longer “type posts on the board.” I talk to my friends. I love it here. I love it.

This place has something for every one of my addictions.

Lovely, wonderful people.

Witty and wise conversation.

Intelligent discussion.

Goofy conversation and discussion.

And most importantly, good friends.
