Bit of a tangent: I’ve never understood how Snoopy is a beagle. The body shape is sort of beagle-ish, but he’s white with a black spot and black ears. I’ve never seen an all-white beagle.

Well what kind of dog does Brian resemble in real life? In other words if you took a real dog what kind of dog has the features closest to Brian?
I don’t like the Lab answer. Compared to the animated family, Brian is too small to be an eight year old Lab.
He’s clearly a mongrel.
His colouring is indicative a pit bull breed, but the ears and muzzle are wrong for all of them. The ears are Spaniel-ish (albeit a bit too short). The muzzle is really hard to place, given the level of stylization, but it’s long and broad, not particularly squared, and has no jowls - pretty much requires a mongrel.
