She’s very dark brown, almost black in unless in bright light, with a patch of white on the chest. She’s part lab, but has flatter head and triangular ears. Right now she’s about 20 lbs and 2.5- 3 months old.
Could have some Chesapeake Bay Retriever in there–or the muzzle shape might be due to a pit bull in the woodpile somewhere. Lab/pit mixes are really common for some reason.
Most definitely mostly Lab. I had a Chocolate Lab/Black Lab mix (100% Lab), and he looked almost identical to yours at the puppy age. That pic with the stuffed animals is adorable. Squeee!
Puppies look more or less alike. When she gets older the father’s input might be more apparent. Right now, ‘cute’ will have to do.
A couple years ago, my sister-in-law, once removed* got a rescue dog from the pound. He was touted as a Newfoundland Retriever / Labrador Retriever cross. When we saw Roy the first time, DesertRoomie and I said, “Newfie, yes (lookit the size of him!) but that’s no lab.” It took a few minutes’ pondering and then it struck us at the same time: Flatcoat Retriever. I was keying on the head shape, DR on the coat. We brought a dog breed encyclopedia the next time and there was no doubt; you could see both breeds’ characteristics in Roy.
However, the coat of a Chessie is different and notable from a brown Lab. If it comes in kind of rough and almost curlyish, I would think Chessie. If smooth and shiny, then Brown Lab/maybe pit bull cross.
