What kind of photo-storing site SHOULD I USE

Right now I’m on Photobucket, and it stores the picture you upload really tiny!

What SHOULD I USE- please, don’t everyone share which one they use. Just tell me one that doesn’t store 'em tiny and I’ll go use it. End of thread.

Sorry to be so blunt about it.

One that won’t store them so tiny is your very own website that you pay for. It will cost around $70 year which includes a domain name, 2 GB of space, and lots of photo tools. You can do whatever you want and setup on the one that I use only took seconds for the photo album part of it.

Sorry to be so blunt about it.

I don’t know what your problem is exactly. Yes, I know the thumbnails are small, then you can click on the picture and make it larger. However, you still have the option of viewing it full sized too
I know you didn’t want people to say which site they use but I use photobucket quite a bit and am somewhat familiar with it. I like it a lot.

ImageShack is free and allows images of up to 2Mbs.

I found out what the problem is, and I’ll try to phrase it clearly-

I have pictures that, when transferred to Photobucket, are small (a few kb), so when you open them in their URL page (the one that, say, you would see if I were to draw a picture in Paint, load it onto PB, and link to that URL so you could see it here on the Dope) it looks small. But, say you looked at that picture in Paint, or in a Word Document- not only is it much bigger than presented on this webpage, but in Word you can zoom into it and the resolution is still pretty good (whereas if you were to zoom into this picture on the URL it looks terrible).

Is there a way to make the picture look bigger as presented in it’s own URL?

For instance, this 2 KB picture- as viewed on the page, it’s tiny, and when you zoom in, it’s awful. Now copy and paste it into a Word document (or Paint). Look bigger?

Actually, no, it won’t look bigger, but here’s my question: can I make the picture look the size and resolution it did when I made it in Wordpad?

B/C in Wordpad, in Print Preview, it clearly takes up the entire width of a page, in clear resolution. So what happens in the jump to PB? It gets compressed for data storage reasons?

Imageshack is a billion times better!

Thanks a bunch!

Sorry for the hijack but it appears that Andrew is happy…

Are these kinds of sites suitable for a family that is dispersed around the country to upload and share photos? If not is there something more suitable?

On second thought, I’ve got some advice for andrew.

This is NOT a warning.

Please learn how to post your questions to the proper forum. You have a problem. If you are asking for opinions, please don’t post in GQ.

IS THIS CLEAR? ???

This is really tiresome.,

I used MyFamily for a while, and my best friend has been using it for quite some time. Each family member has their own login, and can access family-only pictures and message boards. It’s really pretty cool, or at least it was a couple of years ago. And, to my knowledge, their basic service is free.

I know I’ve posted in the wrong forum plenty before, but I was asking factually which site doesn’t store pictures small and then why my pictures were small. It wasn’t until What the… ?! ?! asked for OPINIONS that he moved us to IMHO territory.

What the… ?! ?!, polling is reserved for IMHO. GQ is for factual questions.

It resizes your pictures if it’s over 250kb. It says under the upload box that it resizes pictures over 250kb. Solution? Compress your pictures so that they are smaller than 250kb. Alternatively, don’t upload pictures over 250kb. If you must upload pictures larger than 250kb use ImageShack, but be aware that it will not take anything over 2mb. It also says under the upload box that it will not take images over 2mb. If you want to upload images larger than 2mb use Photobucket, but be aware that they will be resized because they are larger than 250kb. Photobucket resizes images over 250kb. Photobucket resizes images over 250kb. Photobucket resizes images over 250kb.

If you want a better solution, get your own website. They’re free these days, just like the internets.
