What Madame Defarge Has Been Up To Lately -- A Yarny MMP

Dang, that was fast - the tech just got here. More updates as warranted…

I’m about 3/4 finished with the poodle body. I was concerned that I didn’t have anything to model it with at work and then I saw it! The desk cleaner is a 15 oz spray can. It’s a perfect fit! I think I know where the poodle is going to live when I’m done. Anyway, I think I’ll be able to finish up the body tomorrow at lunch and start on the head.

Tonight I’ll be busy reading the 6th book in the series that I hate, then I’ll come in here and complain about how bad it was, they jumped the shark, they killed my favorite character, and OMG! the wedding was ruined and/or put off by a terrorist attack! I’m prognosticating here, but I bet I’m right. I’ll let you know.

FCM, I hope they get it fixed quickly. There’s nothing worse than no A/C. :thinking unkind thoughts about California’s Enron-induced rolling blackouts and A/C shortages:

That was fast, FCM.

I failed to whine properly about the fact that when I got home from taking Papa Tigs to the ER last night, and then going out at midnight to pick up his prescription for Good Drugs, so tired all I wanted to do was fall into bed and watch TV for a bit and then go to sleep, I was seriously not pleased to discover the cable box in the bedroom was dead, dead, dead. As dead as Generalissimo Franco. But like FCM’s AC repair guy, I just called the FIOS folks and got right through to a person and they’ll have a guy out with a new box tomorrow afternoon. Which isn’t half bad, considering. I asked if I could just go trade it out, but they’re still new enough that they’re not set up for that yet.

It’s probably more convenient just to have them deliver it to us, anyway. Especially since we signed up when they were so brand-new in the area that we’re grandfathered into having four boxes for free for as long as we have the service. They’re charging newer folks for anything over one or two, I believe. But we got ourselves a seriously good deal when we got the FIOS, so I am not complaining. And thus far service has been exemplary. <She says knocking wood furiously.>

Poor Papa Tigs still can’t lie down. He tried to take a nap lying down on the bed, and had to give up after about two minutes. So it looks like he’ll spend another night on the recliner sofa, poor guy.

well, that explains everything! If’n you’d’a stayed with the cable company (Time Warner? Comcast?) You wouldn’d’a been having all these problems! Our stuff works the first time, every time!

So, the compressor fan is dead dead dead. And they don’t have one in stock, so they’ve gotta order one from Trane.

Luckily, it’s supposed to cool down overnight and tomorrow’s highs are supposed to be upper 70s here, so there’s that.

That’s my life - one excitement after another…

Back from the (boooooriiiiiing  ) wedding.

I see you’ve been doing very nicely here without me, again  NC-17, huh? When the dinosaurs roamed the earth and I lived a few years in the US, there was G, PG, R and X – and that was it. Seems things have gotten a tad more complicated?

**MaTigs **-- more “get well quick” wishes for PapaTiger!

Rigs, **taxi **-- why don’t you join the flirt-fest? We’re all having such fun! (Well, almost all of us, save the whiners who want a PG thread :p)

**FCM **-- more “get well quick” wishes for Mr. A/C. I feel your pain – I know what it’s like in hot, humid weather and no A/C!
ETA: Gah, I see my “get well” did the A/C no good at all – sorry about that! Hope it doesn’t take them too long to fix!

Don’t know if I’m repeating anything that’s already been said, but figured that I’d say it anyway, because I had the same thing yesterday and have had it before. It’s an infection in the cuticle and can be quite painful. I’ve forgotten the actual name of the condition, but what I did was to soak the finger in very warm water, then I lanced it with a sterilized needle, squeezed the pus out, then put some antibiotic on it (I didn’t have any neosporin so used some hydrogen peroxide) and put a band-aid on. Today, it looks much better, though it is still a little sore and a bit red. I’ve had this before and ended up having to take oral antibiotics for it!

Oh yeah, congrats to Swampy on the job!! It’ll feel a bit strange though, I’ll bet, to have to get back into the swing of a work routine again. Good luck, Swampus!

I have fresh oil on the crankcase, Guinness chilling in the fridge, and chicken boobs marinating in a bag. I even squeezed in a nap.

Wild hair? are you dising ACBG?

FCM, if I lived closer, I’d come over and fan you.

SCL, so how ya doin’?

ali good job on your project!

MamaTigs, I wish I could take a sick day, but I always seem to be the least sick one around here.

Special1, you should have gone to my cousin’s wedding. there was drinking and screaming and mortal danger.

“mortal danger”? Did the guest bring weaponry?

I thought I posted this morning, but I guess not!

That was a great TMI post by both BBBobbio and tarr. It makes me sad that I don’t have any gooshy things on me to talk about.

I made beef fajitas last night, but was disappointed. I marinated them for 24 hours, but they still came out tough. My first and last time for beef fajitas. I prefer chicken ones anyway, I was just trying to please the menfolk. So since Sunday, I’m 2 for 4 in the good meals department. That makes me mad! I like to serve yummy food. And tonight and tomorrow are new(ish) recipes - grilled scallops wrapped in prosciutto with grilled asparagus and crab cakes. Mmm. I’ve made crab cakes a lot, so we should be good to go. I think we need another starch though - maybe parsley potatoes.

And tomorrow is a brand new recipe - chicken breasts pounded thin, with prosciutto, fresh spinach, and goat cheese, rolled up in bread crumbs and baked…

I shoulda been a chef…

Sounds like you practically are… ::drools::

What!? I can’t even drool over yummy food anymore without people accusing me of innuendo?  :stuck_out_tongue: Get yer minds out of the gutter! ('cos I need more room there :D)

I’m flattered that you’re drooling over [del]me[/del] my food!

Ah, ignore the whiners. PG is over-rated, anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bob and Tarr, those posts were fascinatingly disgusting. And reminding me a bit too much of familiar experiences with acne and visiting the dermatologist. For some reason, my skin doc’s favorite way of “treating” acne was to take a pair of tweezers to my face and stab each little pimple until there was nothing left but little bubbles of blood oozing all over my face.

And that was my TMI post for the day, whee!

Gold star for you! * We’d be in real trouble here if the ceiling fans died. Tomorrow, one of us will call to find out when the new fan/fan motor will arrive. Then I’ll get to take the day off to get it installed. Any excuse, eh?

I looked at the long range forecast - we’re good thru Monday, barring a severe change. It won’t be cool in here, but at least it’s staying in the low 80s, which is mostly tolerable. Worst comes to worst, we can go down to the basement - it’s cooler there.

I ordered the assorted parts we need to install the new stove in the boat, plus a couple of lights for the V-berth, and line to make main and jib sheets. All we need to finish the stove is a propane bottle - a 4.5# size. It’s not like I’ll be doing a lot of cooking aboard.
Almost Friday - yay!

I would but I’ve never figured out non-facial-expression-based flirting. I’m best at just a smile, a raised eyebrow, and a look that says “How you doin’?” and it’s never failed me yet. But I don’t know how to translate that to online!

Specialone–whoosh! I was flirting when you were still a twinkle in some guy’s eye…

Ok, so I made dinner. Daughter is downtown at field hockey camp, #1 son has gone to a friend’s house, as has #2 son. Why did I make dinner again?
Think I did a bad job on my paper. This prof is hard to read–not sure what she wants. Argh.

Glad the weather is changing–it’s been delightful here all day-I turned the AC off this morning.

Can’t believe it’s already Thursday. Go back to the doctor on Tuesday-to see if I’m ok to go back to work. Don’t feel well enough to work.

So, how you doin’?

See? Easy!

(Hey, just trying to help a girl out, here…)

I’m not quite that dense. I mean, it worked, didn’t it?

And I’m glad somebody thinks I’m the age I’m acting and not the age I’m really at… :stuck_out_tongue: (FTR, I’m 43 going on 17)

Hope things get better for you health- and academics-wise, though!

Oh, right.

So how YOU doin’? :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s got a what in his who?

Wife and I were at the wings 'n beer place last night. She realized today she had left her credit card there, so she called and lo and behold, they do.

So, since I’m not in a wing mood, I will take her up on the offer of a beerverage or two though.

That sounds like one crowded apartment you guys are planning, one tip: oversize the water heater.

Sorry, I’m just practical that way.
