Make sure you have them look at redoing the electrical system for the kitchen. IIRC, some nutjob tried to start a fire in the outlet behind an appliance.
BooFae stay away from Picadilly. I’m sure you’ve heard the news.
I have got so much paperwork sitting on my desk, and the desire to do none of it.
I saw that on the Beeb’s newspages earlier - I’m about 150miles away though, I think I’ll be safe. Unless they close Birmingham New Street station as a precaution again!
Another day of sittin’ around twiddling my freakin’ thumbs. I’m BORED!!!
Dinner last night rocked! The scallops were grilled to perfection, and the crab cakes were wonderful. Too bad Mr Rebo didn’t get home until late, but I cooked his scallops fresh for him, and reheated the asparagus and crab cakes. Oh, I found a recipe for Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay biscuits. They came out perfect! Just like the real thing!
Good luck at the doctor’s office, tarr.
Y’all can have this freakin’ rain!!! It’s rained every day for what feels like a month. We’re stuck between two highs, and the Hill Country and all the way to Oklahoma is just getting bombarded. We at least only get rain mostly in the afternoon.
No rain here, neither! They keep promising and promising.
Speaking of refis, Mr. Anachi and I signed all the papers last night and we’ll get a check next week so we can begin the fun of putting in a 12x24 water feature. Oh, joy! Mud and mess for eight weeks.
PEAS!!! I would kill for some fresh peas. I mean real, honest-to-goodness sweet plump peas. For some reason, I never see them down here…just the snow peas which got no real peas in em, ya know. Real peas are even good raw.
Heh, if I acted even half my age, I’d still be an old crone.
Woohoo! Friday is here, and the commencement of the long weekend is mere hours away. And it’s quite a nice day out, too – just about right. Perfect Friday weather. We were supposed to get rain a couple of nights ago but it didn’t happen, and all that massive amount of wet stuff coming off the Gulf of Mexico doesn’t seem to be aimed here, so I’m guessing we’ll be dry yet for a while. (Is anyone here caught in that, by the way? The flooding has been devastating from what I’ve seen!)
I may head out to my buddy’s for another B&B on the holiday monday, not sure yet. I think he just wants more of the most excellent macaroni salad I made last week.
Heff & Roo - If you were able to absorb the collective filthiness of everyone here, the accumulated breadth and depth of said filthiness would exceed capacity of any one person here, so you could indeed grow to have a filthier mind than us. So, uh … stick around, because that would be very interesting indeed.
Now, as to my ahem balls: The streaks are caused by the long exposure time of the photo (16 seconds @ f2.8 – in other words, the shutter was wiiiide open (f-stop 2.8, the widest my camera’s shutter can open) for a full 16 seconds, thus smearing any moving imagery or light source right along its path or arc.) If I’d just snapped an ordinary 1/8th or 1/16th-second shot they’d just look like little glowing coloured spheres hanging in the air, which is how they’d look to the naked eye when viewed live, too. But that makes for pretty dull photography when it comes to fireworks. Long exposure shots are more dramatic and pretty because everything that happens while the shutter is open gets captured and smeared across the photo. You may have seen photographs of roads or highways where all you see are long red and white streaks of vehicle headlights and taillights across the various lanes. Same technique. (Yes, most cameras are pretty much just point & shoot and you don’t concern yourself with all the technical crap like that, but photographers – or ones who like to pretend to be photographers, like me – might want more control over how a camera takes pictures, so higher end cameras have features that let you manually control things like exposure time, f-stop, focus, etc.)
BooFae - Chav kitten? Now I’m picturing a kitty with a burberry cap and brilliant white kicks to go with that bracelet – and it’s cute!
Home from the farmer’s market with fresh veggies. It’s so freakin’ hot here already! I’m hopin’ this is a heat/humidity build up for storms. I’d love a good thunderstorm or six.
Ok, I’m settin’ my big fan (the one nicknamed tornado) up out on the back porch and Ima shell peas and butter beans and snap green beans for a while. I’ll be back to report on progress cause I just know y’all will want to know. I bought a half bushel of each today as a start.
Here’s hoping Chav kitty gets caught and properly taken care of, BooFae. Poor baby!
Things are hectic around here, again. I had to get up earlier than I like and run up to the horsepital to get Papa Tigs’ x-rays. I will say, though, that the young lady was extremely fast, just had to print out copies while I waited. Now whiterabbit is chauffeuring Papa Tigs to one doctor, and I’m headed to another doctor myself in a little while. To see if we can get my stupid foot calmed down again. I think it’s weather-related – seriously, last weekend when it was so annoying, we were having a front moving through, and today we are again so guess what it’s doing.
Does anyone here actually care enough about the iPhone to want one?
Back to work. I only wish it were my Friday; that’ll be Tuesday, I’m planning on taking at least the 4th and 5th off. No matter how much work they try to stick me with.
ETA: Oh, good grief. Does anyone else here know about the fine Washington tradition of line-standers? Yes indeedy, you can hire someone to stand in line for you, usually to get into congressional hearings; there are actual companies that pay, for example, students to stand in line and hold your place, and since they can study while they wait, it’s actually a nice thing for them. But it’s still a crazy business.
So guess where there are linestanders? At the Wisconsin Avenue AT&T store to get iPhones! :smack: :smack: :smack:
No rain here, but the temperature has dropped further, as promised. It should be a lovely long weekend.
Do you know what I just did? I’m so ashamed. I phoned my Mom and asked her to bring me breakfast from McDonald’s. She’s on her way. This pregnancy thing is embarrasing. McDonald’s? WHat possible grease-and-salt nutritional deficiency could the kid have? Last night for dinner I had a bacon sandwich!
Anyway. Today is breakfast, pick up cheque, do laundry, clean bathroom, and no throwing up. I hope.
Am up, but want to go back to bed. Nice and cool here today. I went to the library yesterday and checked out a bunch of movies and the first season of the Bob Newhart Show (the Chicago one). Talk about nostalgia…
It’s about all I’m up for-mindless entertainment. I don’t even want to read.
Jahdra–what was that book? It sounds…interesting.
And what happened in Piccadilly? I will go google. I get nothing(?)
Dunno if I shared this, but I googled Clive Owen–yum!
Piccadilly had a car bomb scare today. It was defused though.
I would probably like an I-Phone, but two things stop me from getting it now: I KNOW the price will come down, though I do like the rate packages - also Apple will no doubt be adding features to future generations, I’ll hang on and see what they are.
Also, my current AT&T phone is on that 3G internet network, and is lightning fast, I get web pages fully loaded in 3-5 seconds. I check Gmail, news, weather, sports during stoplights, no kidding. My old razr was on the network that the I-Phone is on, and it’s like molasses.
Granted, IF there’s a Wi-Fi connection, it hooks up to that, but what if I’m sitting at the ballgame, the woods, or somewhere there isn’t one? Sorry, I’m spoiled, I want my fast internet on the cell now that I know how cool it is.
