What Madame Defarge Has Been Up To Lately -- A Yarny MMP

OK…everyone is making me giggle. Laugh out loud, really.

rigs, that was me and not rosie. I love him because he couldn’t believe I’m my age. (We met last summer in Michigan.)

doggio :stuck_out_tongue:

And, yes, swampy, that’s pretty much what I was thinking. But with ribbons in the hair.

I like the idea of having several gadgets in one, FCM. I use both the phone and PDA quite a bit and would love to have both together. But I’ve looked at all of the smartphones on the AT&T web site and am not in love. I wouldn’t mind having a phone that could be used as an MP3 player (it would keep me from having to get an iPod later), but I’m not feeling a burning need for one right now. Camera, video…periodically handy, I suppose, but not necessary. I want them to make a phone to my specs!!!

Off to do some stuff. Really. At least go for a walk. Or something.

GT

For the record, I’m not interested in seeing you nekkid. I’m not sure I wanna see you in short pants - unless I already did - did you wear shorts when we went to Whitey’s?

For the record, I had more cheesecake tonight, and it’s still yummerrific. I think I’ve just got one more serving left. Cheesecake - it’s not just for breakfast any more.

When I had a working sewing machine, and the stamina to wander around a fabric store, I’d look for a fabric that spoke to me and then decided what to make out of it.
This is a lightweight knit with a metallic sheen. - Drop waist (around my hips) floor length full circle skirt - looked great on the dance floor. I also made a thigh length underdress since the fabric was on the sheer side, and added crinoline the length of the skirt from the natural waist down, to give the skirt more fullness. (dig our “big” hair - 1989) I’ve also used this dress as a 1930’s/1940’s costume - once for an interactive murder mystery my friends and I wrote - (ooo! idea for an MMP - okay - put me in the rotation) and once for a chorus show that took place in the early 40s.
I fell in love with this lacey metallic fabric in my favorite color on the bolt because of the lovely scallops. And even tho you’re “not supposed to” let a garment hang from the sideways of a fabric, I couldn’t let those lovely scallops go to waste. The sleeves are tapered and come down beyond the wrist. The waist ended up being higher than I’d envisioned it, but I think it works. There is also crinoline under this skirt.

eta: both came from my brain - no pattern. impressed? I was.

rosie, you’re brave tackling fabrics like that. In my experience, when I try to do stuff with fancy, sparkly, delicate materials, I mess it up. I was going to make my daughter a prom dress with a sparkly, shiny underdress and a sheer overdress. After much cussing, we went out and bought her a dress.

And now she wants me to make her a wedding dress. oy!!
No pattern? I am most definitely impressed!!! dang!

gt I don’t use mine to download or store music. I have an Ipod, and I just use that, so I couldn’t tell you.

It’s got a nice fairly good resolution camera - I think the resolution is 4X what the razr had. Videos too. I hardly use the camera, but it does come in handy from time to time - just like in that old commercial, I actually used it once at a store to take a picture, message it the Child and have her say yes, that’s the thing she was looking for.

The auto-spelling takes a little getting used to if you’ve used the Motorola versions for a long time like I have, but I think now I actually like it better.

gt - are you still keeping tabs on who does which MMP? You can throw me into the rotation - just remind me when it’s my turn.

Because it presents the least disturbing mental picture.
Update: The A/C is off, the windows are open and the cat is in my face.

screeching or purring? that’s important.

<snerk> that cracked me up, rosie!

Yes. If I had to choose between Swampu nekkid or Swampus in one of those baby outfits-I’d much rather see him nekkid. Not that he would ever wear one of those outfits. IF he did, he would automatically LOSE his Cool Kids status*.

*check the fine print–it’s there.

I’m almost done with my booktalk speechy thingy. I have to go live on Monday morning. It’s not great, but how to describe The Daughter of Time? Why did I pick such a hard book to summarize? (it’s my fav book that’s why).

well, in every cartoon db’s ever done, all Lucretia does is screech

The cat’s on your face db ?

Shedding? Like on your face?

Speaking of cats, I believe, unless it was something outside of the house, that I just heard Cuervo speak! He never, ever talks at all. Never has, the doc thinks he might have some damage from his near-death-preemie-chest infection days. But he is effectively mute. He will on a fairly regular basis, look at me when he wants something, and mouth a little, but nothing comes out.

Just now, I was in the living room in the front of the house reading. He was napping on the back of his favorite chair. I got up to come check the score of the Sox game in the Family Room, and as I stood up, he woke, stood up quickly and I SWEAR I HEARD A SHORT, CROAKY, ALMOST DUCK-LIKE NOISE!!!

Now, you laugh. You say, but MBG , Cuervo is a kitty, not a duck. I said earlier he never speaks? Well, he has on one other occasion, spoken repeatedly and loudly. That was when he was in the cat carrier with me, on the way to his most recent vet visit. When he was making the trip regularly, as a baby, he was fine - loved the carrier in fact. But in the ensuing time, he must have forgotten the joy of the carrier, and this last time, he squawked for the first 10 minutes of the trip, and it was THAT noise, the same one I just heard. I remember thinking that if that’s what his voice sounds like, and he only uses it when he’s in distress, it must hurt him to talk.

This time it didn’t sound like distress, it sounded like “hey, where ya going, can i go, can i go can i go?”

I walked over to him just now and said “what’d you say, boy?” (boy, being the shortened version of his nickname, which is “good boy”).

He just stared and started purring, but I KNOW he spoke.

maybe it was - “Don’t bother - they’re gonna lose”

So, how many beerverages have you consumed so far, MBG? Just askin’. No reason, really.

Added you to the on-deck list, rosie. rigs had said she wanted to do one sometime soon; don’t know if she’d be up to it on the 9th. If not, you could have the 9th…

Yes, I am a slacker. I’ve been surfing this whole time. Guess I needed the relatively mindless recreation.

Think I’ll wander off to bed and read.

Nighty night.

GT

I could do the 9th, but not the 2nd. It will be a very boring MMP, since I’ve gone nowhere and am still sick…hmmm.

We’re good on the 2nd - Bobbio is hosting. If you’re not sure about the 9th, rosie could go then and you could do the 16th… In any case I’m confident you could find something to start us off with. (Book report?)

GT

I’ll take the 9th if you like, rigs, but I am waiting for my friends to fill in the gaps in my memory - they were involved in the stuff about which I am writing

Rosie, Lucretia was shedding and screaming in my face: “PET ME! PET ME! EWW IT TOUCHED ME!!!”

MBG, sound like Cuervo is the feline version of Only One Woof

I’m still awake - I figure if I stay up until midnight, I’ll stand a better chancce of sleeping thru the night (as opposed to going to bed at 9 and waking up at 1 and staying awake til 4, then trying to squeeze in a little more still til my day starts)

I took Papa Tigs out for a while today – he was getting stir-crazy – and when we got home, there was a box of CDs on the front porch with Indian music on them! Yay, Meeks! Thank you so much! I’m importing them right now, and will listen to it later – the few tunes I’ve sampled thus far sound really fun and definitely a nice change from my usual fare! You are a Super Terrific Cool Kid!

Emily talks. A LOT. In a supremely bossy voice. Isaac and Rusty bark like normal dogs, but Rusty also does something I have never, ever heard another dog do – he whistles. I swear, it’s a whistling noise! He makes it whenever he’s anxious or excited, and he sounds just like a tweety bird (not a duck)! One friend thought I meant he was whining – until she heard him. “He’s whistling!” she exclaimed. (Yes, it sounds like a bad novel, but she really did exclaim it.) He’s an odd, odd doggie.

Papa Tigs discovered this evening that the pinched nerve has caused the muscle in his upper arm to knot up in a HUGE spasm – I’m talking a pronounced knot a good two inches in diameter! I worked on it as best I could, and he claims it already feels better, but I’m not a massage therapist so I couldn’t get it worked out nearly as much as I’d like. But he’s going for a massage in the morning, so hopefully she can get it calmed down. It’s not surprising it hurts his arm to move it with that huge knot in the muscle!

I refuse to even contemplate Swampy – or anybody else! – in one of those outfits! That’s one thing the internet does have, is freaks of every variety!!!
