What Made You Smile Today?

Getting shitfaced while watching Family Guy with a sleepy cat in my lap and remembering that I don’t have to go to work tomorrow because of Labor Day.

 My husband bought me a sweet-smelling bath bomb so I could go take a relaxing bath! He bought it for me on Friday but I just got to use it tonight. We just moved apartment so I’m all achy

 My first sweater is coming along… I started yesterday and today I toughed out fixing a couple of mistakes I made in the knitting and that made me smile because it was a bit scary compared to just ripping the whole thing out and starting over, but I did it! Also, the yarn for it, baby alpaca, is so soft and fuzzy it’s almost like knitting with kittens

 I definitely smiled when I got through cataloguing the last of my books while unpacking. Now we only have to catalog the shared books (mine are done, his are done.) Wheeeee!!!

The sheriff stopping by with his new Sniffy-dog, because I have calm kitties, and Mr. Sheriff-man thought Sniffy needed to learn to be nice to happy cats.

He was wrong. MonsterKitty, Batcat & Incerta are all rather soggy, and Sniffydog is heartbroken because they don’t love him back as much, but I’m still grinning.

Plus, Sniffy-dog is a sweetheart. Puppykisses always make me smile.

Okay, this is disaster-related, but still… Yesterday, I was watching the news and saying to Mr. Legend, “Why are they flying people to Arizona when we have a perfectly good Convention Center here and a rental houses going begging?” So today:

The picture on the front page of the local paper today showed weary families being ushered into the Albuquerque Convention Center by caring Red Cross volunteers. The accompanying story said our mayor has found over 600 rental units available for evacuees so far and the schools are preparing to enroll new students.

Then, the person at the city-run helpline told me that the Red Cross would like me to call them after Wednesday and the food bank can use help after Thursday, because there are so many volunteers right now, they can’t accommodate us all.

Those things made me smile.

Shot some interviews for Good Morning America this afternoon. Some refugees from New Orleans are staying at Kelly USA, the former Kelly Airforce Base here.

Several times I was thanked by some of them, and not just those being interviewed, for helping to get the word out. I never liked working in local news so I got out a long time ago, now I shoot the occassional story for the networks.
This was an assignment that gave me immediate satisfaction and their smiles made me smile.

And I just got back from a late movie with my daughter. That definitely had me smiling.

 A weekend where I got to just relax. Not worry about anything. Visit friends out of state, and their lovely children, along with two of my best friends and their very happy dogs.

 Realizing that life goes on, and there’s always hope.

(and this will only make sense to a few folks, probably members of CECIL)

 Getting a brand-new witch hat!
